Cops Tighten Security For Dinagyang 2012
All police units in the City and Province of Iloilo were ordered on full alert by Chief Supt. Cipriano Querol, Jr., Regional Director, Police Regional office 6, to tighten security as Dinagyang Festival comes to its highlights today and tomorrow, January 21 and 22. Hence, no personnel were allowed to go on leave, and those who are on leave were recalled.
PO3 Francisco Lindero, Jr. of the PRO 6 public information office in a press release said, RD Querol issued the memorandum early morning yesterday to all police unit commanders, to secure PNP camps and offices, vital installations, and economic places of convergence of people.
Querol also ordered them to enhance the conduct of checkpoints/chokepoints and other police operations in support to the Dinagyang Festival security coverage.
All personnel were required to report to duty Saturday and , Sunday, January 21-22, including those who are assigned at the Provincial and Regional Headquarters.
“We have to consolidate our forces to ensure that this celebration will be peaceful and orderly. It is a big challenge for the police to ensure that no incident will disrupt the festivities,” Querol stressed.
He also said, the Tactical Operations Center at Camp Martin Teofilo B. Delgado is closely monitoring the field operations, during the Festival.
“We need updates from the field as fast as we can get the information to come up with the some adjustments in our security strategies, if necessary,” Querol further disclosed.*
