2 MassCom Students Visit NDB Editorial Office
Two 3rd year English and Communications students of the University of Negros
Occ.-Recoletos (UNO-R) visited the editorial offices of the Negros Daily Bulletin to interview Editor-in-Chief Ruperto G. Toga.Glazyl Jane Marie Y. Masculino and Violie May Swela E. Alo, taking up MassCom under the UNO-R College of Arts & Sciences Department, conducted an interview with the NDB Ed-in-Chief on the subject of Media Management, having steered the daily paper successfully since its founding way back in 1960.
They also discussed the daily paper’s strategy, specifically on “Strategic Planning” especially on its daily, weekly and monthly planning sessions which according to the editor-in-chief, have been credited with the paper’s efficiency in terms of news coverage and news gathering techniques, transmission of stories to the news and editorial desk, among others. The MassCom students were told to discover “news ideas that can surely help them become good media practitioners in the future.”
Toga, a journalist for more than 50 years, shared his knowledge and experiences in the media profession both as veteran news reporter and media executive having been bureau chief of the Philippine News Agency (PNA) for Negros Occidental and Panay, and Negros Daily Bulletin editor-in-chief since the paper’s early years as a weekly, bi-weekly, tri-weekly and ultimately as a daily publication todate.

Dormido, media management adviser at UNO-R College of Arts & Sciences, who was
Negros Press Club scholarship grantee during her college days at UNO-R.*
