Local News: ‘Ang Jardin ni Cap Mona’ Launched
The barangay-based livelihood project to help the unemployed and below average income earner households in the City of Smiles was launched on January 29, 2012 at the People’s Hall of Barangay 3.
The successful training seminar on food processing was brought through the initiative of Mona Dia G. Jardin, President of Liga ng mga Barangay Bacolod.
The project was called “Ang Jardin ni Cap Mona,” a flagship program of Liga ng
mga Barangay that aims to “create sustainable business - transforming lives” of
every household in our city. “Ang Jardin ni Cap Mona” directly describes that
“we must plant the seeds of our initiative, hard work and quarried skills in our
community in order to harvest beneficial result.”
As a businesswoman equipped with the skills in food processing (Frozen Foods),
Jardin is optimistic to transfer her skills to recip-ients of her project to
start up their own business and generate income in line with her vision that in
two years’ time, all recipient mothers are harvesting the fruits of their
efforts in their community Jardin or Garden.
The beauty of the said project is, after the training has been given by Councilor Jardin herself, all the equipment being used were turned-over to the Punong Barangay together with the P5,000.00 as starting capital.
However, the sustainability of the said project is that after 2 or 3 months that the training seminar was given, the recipient will pay the said amount back to the office of the Liga ng mga Barangay through their Punong Baran-gay to be used by other groups or barangay as its capital.
While the technology was already transferred in the possession of the recipient, the training workshop will continue for upgrading of skills and knowledge especially the sales and marketing techniques.
The training seminar has resulted to 47 newly skilled and equipped mothers of Barangay 3 who are now on their way to the business side of their life. Likewise, Punong Barangay Ricky Feloteo is very thankful and highly appreciated the effort of Jardin for choosing his Barangay as the pilot recipient of Ang Jardin ni Cap Mona project.*
