Sports: Host Ready for PVF Volleyball Referees Congress
The host University of St. La Salle is ready for the upcoming Philippine Volleyball Federation (PVF) Referees Congress on February t3 to 5, 2012, according to former PVF president Roger A. Banzuela.
The 3-day referees’ congress is in cooperation of Varsity Sports Office and SHARE.
The tournament is supposed to be held February 24 to 26, 2012 to coincide with the holding of annual Park Volleyball Festival but resource persons beg to move early the event due to conflict of their schedules.
The Referees’ Congress evaluators/accreditors will compose of Nestor Bello, Marvin Trinidad and Vic Abalos, all FIVB accredited international referees. They are arriving February 2, Banzuela also added.
Also joining them are former PVF President Pete Mendoza and currently PVF head Gener Dungo.
This congress is being held every two years as per requirement of the world governing body of volleyball, the FIVB.
Volleyball referees from Iloilo, Capiz, Antique, Aklan, Guimaras, Negros Oriental and Negros Occidental, Cebu and Manila are expected to attend to benefit them in officiating the games as accredited referees.
State Colleges and Universities Athletic Association (SCUAA) through Dr. Edgar Jimena are also sending their delegates to the Congress in preparation for the National SCUAA competition in Iloilo in February this year.
Nestor Bello and Marvin Trinidad, the two FIVB accredited international referees are coming as accreditors/evaluators in the said congress. Also joining them are former PVF President Pete Mendoza and currently PVF head Gener Dungo.
Each participant is required to pay P2, 500 registration fees to include rule book, case book, identification document (ID) and entitled for three meals.
