Business: 2nd SAGOP Seminar Gains Interest
The 2nd Seminar for Stakeholders At Grassroot of Organic Project (SAGOP), with a theme: “Save One Life,” drew interest from leaders who belong to Ilaya Small Farmers Association (SFA), of Purok, Ilaya, Brgy. Cabug, Bacolod City.
It took place at ISFA Bahay Kubo at this Purok on January 21, 2012.
Mike Baylon, Provincial President of Federation of Free Farmers (FFF), served resource person who challenged said stakeholders to do their outmost to make SAGOP work in their area with said theme: “Save a Life.”
The FFF and SAGOP or ISFA can work together as a perfect team to save life, produce sufficient food for all men to eat, as well as save our Mother Earth.
The FFF, oldest and most reputable peasant organization in the country has a program known nationwide as Biofarming Network for Food Project, which includes among others, rice, corn, sugar, coconut and banana all are chemical-free, together with organic fertilizers, such as composts, pesticides and other farm inputs. Baylon said that since SAGOP is chemical-free, it can also greatly save life and conserve what is perhaps God’s greatest gift to man: the land.
The stakeholders who were present in the seminar include: Ramon Jarme, SPA President; Ptr. Constantino Dueñas, Vice President; Chrisanta Dueñas, Secretary; and Michelle Manlapao, SPO Rodrigo Juayang, Virginia Antipatia, Romeo Lisades, Roberto Antipatia, Ely Hemida, Sr., Danilo S. Mañara, Ernesto C. Abancio, Ruth S. Soillo, Shiela R. Bulado and Richard B. Raipan, among others.*
