The 888 Chinatown Square and Sta. Fe Resort posted their respective wins against separate opponents in Class B action of 12th Tan Kek Pin Memorial Basketball Cup at the Po Hang Gym of Bacolod Tay Tung High School (BTTHS) Wednesday.
Marc Lo top scored for 888 Chinatown with 21 points to defeat Nena’s Rose I, 76-70, while Ren Ren Lacson had 17 points for Sta. Fe Resort and routed Alfie’s Construction, 84-67.
Ralph Richard Tan and Marc Lo combined for five triples in the first quarter to lead 888 Chinatown, 22-16, even as Dy scored 12 points for Nena’s Rose I.
Rey Pandoro and Jan Jan Lopue combined for 13 points for 888 to extend the lead at the break at 39-32. It was 888 Chinatown second wins in the tournament.
Pandoro backstop Lo with 14 points for Chinatown, Tan had 11, while Richard Co, Lopue and Jolly Castillo delivered 8 points apiece.
Dy paced the losers with 28, Dr. Chico Coruña with 11, Richard Uy9 and Luigi Coo delivered 7.
In the second game, Sta. Fe Resort pulled away in the first half, 55-27 to register its second win too in the tournament.
Sta. Fe Resort opened the quarter with ex- USLS Stinger Daniel Chiu who scored 12 points all in the opening quarter. Michael Ang three triples and Lacson igniting 12 points in the second quarter to post the commanding lead.
Backstopping Lacson is Bol Manaloto with 13 points, Ang added 12 and Edward Uy with 8.
Bong Palo paced Alfie’s with 14, Jeremy Coo added 10, Danny Boy Uy delivered 8, Peter Galon, Keith Banzon and Tim Garrucho scored 7 points each.* (with report from Stephen Tan)
