Sports: Talisay Mayor Doc Eric 7-Aside, National Football Festival Slated

Talisay City is holding a four-day football festival in connection with the celebration of the city’s 14th Charter Day anniversary on February 9-12, 2012 simultaneously at Carlos Hilado Memorial State College (CHMSC) and Talisay Football pitch.

Organized by Minulu-an Talisay Football Club headed by Rafael T. Lizares Jr., said the two event are dubbed as Mayor Doc Eric 7–Aside City Football Festival scheduled on Feb. 9 to 10 and Mayor Doc Eric National Football Festival on Feb. 11 to 12.

Warren Concepcion, tournament director disclosed that about 300 teams from Iloilo, Negros Oriental and Cebu have been invited to join the event.

There are eight categories to compete in the tournaments; the Under- 13 Boys’, Under-13 Girls’, Under 18 Boys’ and 38-Above categories which will be contested from Feb. 9-11; while the 10-Under boys’/girls’ or mixed, Under-15 Boys’, Ladies Open and Men’s Open will be staged Feb. 9, 10 and 12.

However, only teams from Talisay will compete in the Mayor Doc Eric 7-Aside Football Festival, while those from Iloilo, Negros Oriental and Cebu in the Mayor Doc Eric National Football Festival.
