Events: Negros Occidental Government, Officials Win National Rice Award Anew
The provincial government of Negros Occ. continues to reap awards, this time, having been judged as one of the winners in the Top Ten Provinces, category of the Agri-Pinoy Rice Achievers’ Awards for the provincial Category.
The information was relayed by Regional Executive Director Larry Nacionales of the Regional Field Unit, Department of Agriculture in a letter sent to Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. with a special notice to provincial agriculturist Igmedio Tabianan accompanying the official letter.
A representative of the project proponent which means Marañon Jr. and which includes Tabianan, have been invited to the awards-giving ceremony at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) February 10.
The Governor and Tabia-nan himself were informed that the award could come with a project proposal worth P4-M and which would be submitted to Assistant Secretary Dante Delima, National Rice Program Coordinator.
All awardees will be accommodated at the Century Park Hotel in Manila, with all expenses paid including transportation.
The newest award will be a signal honor for the province and its Office of the Prov’l Agriculture (OPA), headed by Tabianan.
This is apart from a recent award received by the provincial government and OPA in Taiwan which could significantly place the provinces as among the most productive provinces and in the promotion of organic agriculture, too.*
