Two men who were riding in tandem on a motorcycle were arrested by police authorities in Hinigaran town during the conduct of checkpoint along the national road at Brgy. Gargato.

PSInsp. Nerito Lobrido, Hinigaran Police Station officer-in-charge arrested Mitchel Almorin, 27, of Brgy. Himaya and his back rider, Neil Angelo Gegavine after the duo tried to evade the three checkpoints posted by the local police in Brgy. 1, Lopez Jaena St. and along the national road in Brgy. Gargato.

The duo were sighted driving from north to south direction of the national road and were not wearing helmets. Policemen flagged them down for check up but sped through the officers, prompting them to inform the following checkpoints.

In their effort to evade the cops, the suspects hit the patrol car parked beside the road while trying to speed away.

Almorin and Gegavine sustained injuries on different parts of the body and were observed to be under the influence of liquor.

They were transferred to Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH) in Bacolod City for medical treatment.

Their gray-colored Fury Kawasaki motorcycle with plate number OA2569 was brought to the police station for custody.

Reports added that Almorin was driving with an expired student permit aside from not wearing helmet.

Police probers are preparing criminal charges to be filed against the suspects.*
