Local News: Mr. X Killed, One Wounded in Bago Shooting Incident
A still unidentified person was reportedly slain, while another was wounded in a
commotion that took place over the weekend at Purok Kabatuhan, Brgy. Tabunan in
Bago City.
Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOPPO) reports revealed that Edgardo
Calunsag, 35, of Purok Dahog, Brgy. Tabunan was rushed to Corazon Locsin
Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH) for medical treatment after
being fired at with a shotgun during a commotion about 11PM, Saturday. The
suspect was identified only as alias Jun-jun, also of the same place.
Investigation said, Calun-sag was in a drinking spree with the suspect along
with alias Dionel, Ratan Peruelo and Jomar Villaconi at his uncle Rino Claro’s
house when an argument between the parties broke out. The argument allegedly
resulted to a commotion with the suspect trying to shoot Claro and his drinking
companions using a homemade 12-gauge shotgun. However, Calunsag parried against
him and tried to stop the suspect from hitting his uncle, resulting to him being
shot instead.
Calunsag sustained gunshot wounds on both legs and is still under treatment.
Meanwhile, probe added that while the victim and his companions went to the
hospital, another person was found dead in the area with injuries on the head
and other parts of the body.
Witnesses claimed that a commotion took place again while Calunsag and his
family brought him for treatment allegedly involving the same suspect; however,
he has already left the scene along with his family on foot.
Recovered from the crime scene were; one empty shell of 12-gauge shotgun,
Sam-sung cellular phone and a pair of black slippers.
The body of the unidentified man was brought for post mortem examination to
determine the cause of death.
