Sports: Ex-OYSD Head Dies at 73
Seventy-three years old Gregorio “Greg” Jimena, former Bacolod City Office of
the Youth, Sports, and Development head passed away early Saturday morning,
February 4 at the Bacolod Adventist Medical Center in Barangay Taculing, Bacolod
City.
According to his wife, Pauline, her husband suffered asthma before they brought
him to the hospital last Friday, Feb. 3 for immediate medical attention.
However, Jimena has succumbed to cardiac arrest due to asthma the next morning.
Jimena, who was born on September 26, 1938, served as OYSD head during the time
of the late Mayor Alfredo Montelibano, Sr. and the early years of Mayor Evelio
Leonardia’s administration. He also focused on the development of amateur boxing
in Bacolod during his time.
He also served as Regional Director of Bantay Bayan Foundation in 2010.
Jimena’s body is currently laid at the Our Lady of Snow Chapel in Rojas compound
at Brgy. Singcang in this city.
