Sports: Bacolod Cong. Doc Tony Golez Cites Donaire’s Rousing Victory

Congressman Anthony Rolando “Doc Tony” T. Golez, Jr., Representative for the Lone District of Bacolod City filed House Resolution No. 2110, entitled “A RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING AND COMMENDING FILIPINO BOXER NONITO DONAIRE, JR. FOR WINNING THE WORLD BOXING ORGANIZATION (WBO) SUPER BANTAMWEIGHT TITLE LAST FEBRUARY 2, 2012 IN ALAMODOME, SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS”. In said Resolution, Cong. Doc Tony recognized the feat of Nonito “The Filipino Flash” Donaire, Jr. in his victory against Wilfredo Vazquez, Jr., a boxer who hails from Puerto Rico. The bout was held in Texas, USA and the crown for the World Boxing Organization (WBO) Super Bantam Weight Title was at stake in the fight. Nonito “The Filipino Flash” Donaire, Jr. won the fight by showcasing his immense speed and superb punching power.

“The Filipino Flash again provided our country a great source of pride and inspiration. His rousing win against Wilfredo Vazquez, Jr. will surely be a motivation to other Filipino athletes to succeed in the world stage. I congratulate Nonito Donaire, Jr. for his recent victory and I wish him more power and success in his career” said Cong. Doc Tony.

The House of Representatives traditionally recognizes and commends Filipinos who have excelled in different fields in international events through the adoption of House Resolutions. House Resolution No. 2110, which was filed by Cong. Doc Tony, aims to again cite the achievement of a Filipino and illustrate how, with sheer determination and hard work, Filipinos can compete and win in international competitions.
