TOTUS TUUS!. Bacolod City is celebrating the Totus Tuus! Week starting today (February 13, Monday) until February 20 to mark the 31st anniversary of the visit to Bacolod of then Pope John Paul II on February 20, 1981. Photo shows the late Pope in a motorcade on the streets of Bacolod, with the late Bishop Antonio Y. Fortich, 31 years ago.*

Most Rev. Giuseppe Pinto, D.D., Apostolic Papal Nuncio to the Philippines, will arrive in Bacolod City today for the opening of the weeklong Totus Tuus Week celebration, February 13 - 24, 2012, in relation to the 31st anniversary of the visit to Bacolod City of then Pope John Paul II in February 1981.

The celebration centers on the national conference on nuptial theology, titled, Blessed John Paul II Nuptial Theology: Call to Family Ministry, Agenda for Humanity.

Conference venue is Bacolod Planta Hotel, Bacolod. Expected to attend are 200 delegate priests, bishops, family ministry directors, theology teachers, and lay organizations.
According to Msgr. Victorino Rivas, “focus of the conference is the strengthening of family relationship.”

As head of the family tribunal, he said, since 1985, there is quite a number of broken marriages that have been lodged in his office. This is the reason why he has thought of having the nuptial theology event.
He also noticed that common causes of broken marriages are quick or instant marriages. That the couples have not studied well the human character, personality and other aspects of the person they are marrying, so it ends on broken marriages.

Hence, this conference will deliberate and offer solution to this ballooning cases of broken marriages, that the sole victims are the children.*
