Local News: Police Names Suspects in All-Time Big Heist
The suspects in the more than the week old Kabankalan City heist victimizing a sugar trader and which resulted in the death of the bodyguard of her secretary, both of whom had withdrawn about P2-M from a local bank have been identified by Police Chief Supt. Calixto Mabugat during an interview with Aksyon Radyo yesterday morning.
Mabugat identified one of the suspects as one Richard Gonzales, who has also a pending anti-drug case with the Regional Trial Court (RTC) in the city.
He was still trying to verify the name on the other suspect, but that the long arm of the law could bag them later.
Both men took the motorcycle of a Kabankalan resident, but could have bought the second one from its owner who resided in Victorias in Northern Negros.
Unfortunately, both may have already sought refuge in the hinterland area of Negros Oriental Province and escaped with the P2-M loot they grabbed from Celso Carian, a bodyguard of Sugar Trader Herminia Ledesma’s secretary Cheryl Bigota.
When Carian refused to let go off the bag containing the money, one of the suspects shot him, killing him.
In earlier interviews with Aksyon Radyo, Mabugat said they were optimistic that they would bag the suspects in due time.*
