Several residents of Sagay City evacuated yesterday when floods due to continuous heavy rains hit some of their barangays.

A report from Bombo Radyo Bacolod said those flooded in Sagay were Brgys. Paraiso, Fabrica, and Bato.

Six families evacuated to a church, while others transferred to the houses of their relatives in higher grounds.

Residents said the floodwaters had overflown the rivers, especially from Tanao River, and reached their areas.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in Sagay had not reported on the flood damages yet, as its personnel were still busy monitoring the floods.

The local government of Sagay had instructed the evacuees not to return to their houses yet as the floodwaters may still rise.

The police and rescue groups are on alert for possible continued flooding, Bombo Radyo added.*(DBDangcalan)
