A 37-year-old Negrense remains missing after he jumped from a Negros Navigation passenger liner while the ship was navigating the Antique coastal waters Sunday morning.

The missing victim, Bernardo Iglesias of Bayawan, Negros Oriental was with his wife Arlene on their way home from Metro Manila when the incident happened.

His wife Arlene said it was about 2 a.m. on Sunday when her husband jumped from the NENACO passenger liner.

The victim’s wife said she managed to get hold of her husband on his hand but because of his weight, she lost her grip, thus her husband directly fell into the sea.

She said the ship’s crew immediately conducted search and rescue operation for almost two hours but their effort turned futile to find the body of Iglesias.

According to the victim’s sister Evelyn Baliguat, her brother has long been suffering from nervous breakdown believing that he might be attacked anew by the malady when he jumped out of the ship.

She also called on the help of Antiqueños living in coastal areas to inform them thru Bombo Radyo stations or any other media outlet in Iloilo City or Bacolod City once they may happen to find her missing brother either dead or alive.*
