Local News: Trike Driver Thrown Out of Vehicle, 5 Others Hurt in Road Mishap
A tricycle driver was thrown out of his vehicle when he accidentally hit a pedestrian crossing along Guinhalaran Highway, Saturday evening resulting to injuries to four other passengers of the vehicle.
PO3 Rey Paloma of Silay City Police reported that a Honda TMX 155CC top down motorized tricycle driven by Edson Lamata was maneuvering along Cabug highway from North to South direction and occupying the inner southbound lane when he accidentally bumped the crossing pedestrian.
The victim was identified as Ruben Lopez, 72, of Sitio Cabug, Brgy. Guinhalaran in Silay City who sustained injuries on the head and immediately brought to Teresita L. Jalandoni Provincial Hospital for medical treatment and later transferred to Riverside Medical Center. Lamata also sustained injuries on different parts of his body after he was thrown out of the vehicle.
Other passengers wounded due to the impact were: Rey Duarez, 36, who was sitting in the front seat of the vehicle; Joemel Abayon, 33, of Brgy. E. Lopez and sitting at the back seat of the side car; Rey Magbanua, who was sitting on the outer side of the front seat sustained scratches on different parts of his body and Je-Ar Dignos, 28, who was sitting at the back of the driver who jumped out of the tricycle. They were later discharged from the hospital after being treated.
While, Lamata was brought to Silay City Police for investigation and may face charges for reckless imprudence resulting to multiple physical injuries.*
Guns Seized in Negros Occ.
Two firearms were surrendered and confiscated by members of Silay and Kabankalan City Police Station, early this week.
In Silay City, members of the local force multipliers headed by Joel Derba surrendered a .38 caliber homemade revolver to the city police station, Sunday evening.
Derba endorsed Gerald Navarro, 24, of Sitio Golf, Brgy. Guinhalaran for alleged illegal possession of firearms.
He is presently detained and may face charges for violation of Republic Act (RA) 8294 or illegal possession of firearms and ammunitions.
Meanwhile, in Kabankalan City, Brgy. Talubangi kagawad Efren Jose T. Gaspillo with Arlene Figueroa, 20, turned over an improvised 12-gauge shotgun without serial number to SPO1 Samuel J. Villafuerte. The firearm is placed under the custody of the local police authorities.* (RRM)
