Sports: 3Km, 5Km Panaad Road Race Lures 244 Runners Today

Two hundred forty four runners will vie for the titles in both 3km and 5km road race, 6am at different starting point as part of the 19th Panaad sa Negros Festival at Panaad Park and Sports Stadium oval in Brgy Mansilingan, Bacolod City today.

In the 3km race, 21 runners already registered in the men’s 45-up category, while two female runners in the same category; 24 runners in the male and 18 in the female in the Under-13 category, while the 5km race had 126 male runners and 53 female runners for a total of 117 males and 73 females in both categories.

The winners will received P1,000 for the champion; P700 for 1st runner-up and P500 for 2nd runner-up in both men and women categories in the 3km race.

In the 5km category, the champion will get P1,500; P1,000 for 1st runner-up and P700 for 2nd runner-up.

On Saturday, the 10km open race will be held starting from Murcia down to Panaad Park and Sports Stadium. Initially, there are 117 runners in the male and 52 in the female for a total of 169 runners that already registered for the race.

The champion will received P5,000; P3,000 for 1st runner-up; P2,000 for 2nd runner-up; P1,000 for 3rd runner-up and P500 for 4th runner-up.

The youngest and the oldest participants in the 10km open category will get P1,000 each as special prize.* (CMGarde)
