Your junk can be another man’s treasure. SM City Bacolod opened its monthly Trash to Cash Fair to shoppers yesterday and will continue to accept recyclable

items until 2 pm today, April 14. Accumulated junk and items for disposal need not crowd the dumpsters and landfills; instead, everyone is enjoined to participate in this activity and earn cash in the process.

Starting 9 am, shoppers can bring selected items for disposal at SM City Bacolod North Wing 1-B Parking Area, fronting Chicken Deli al fresco area and sell them. SM has partnered with scrap buyers who in turn take care of the items collected for various uses.

What can be traded or sold at the waste market fair? The following items are listed with approximate price lists:

  • * Scrap Iron, P11.00/ kilo
  • * PET Bottle, P14.00/ kilo
  • * Aluminum cans, P30.00/ kilo
  • * Plastic containers, P14.00/ kilo
  • * Cartons, P3.00/ kilo
  • * Newspapers, P3.00/ kilo
  • * Electronic wastes, P6.00/ kilo
  • * Car batteries, P15.00/ kilo
  • * Empty cups (plastic), P8.00/ kilo
  • * Tin cans, P5.00/ kilo
  • * Aluminum (heavy), P45.00/ kilo
