There is a 61% difference or a decrease of dengue fever cases in Bacolod City from January to February this year, which had 22 cases only, compared to last year’s of the same period with 82 cases. This was reported by Tess Gonzales, dengue coordinator of Bacolod City Health Office. She also reported that in 2011, there were 388 total dengue cases, which is 91% lesser than in 2010 with 4,274 cases.

Only 1 death on dengue case reported last year according to Warlito Valiente, CHO statistician. He also said, barangays with highest record of dengue cases last year were Brgy. Bata, Estefania and Villamonte.

Gonzales said the decrease of dengue cases in Bacolod City is due to the massive information campaign, massive anti-larvaecidal treatment in schools, and strengthening of barangay dengue brigade, conducted by their office.* (EBColmo)
