Sports: Panaad Boxing Final Bouts Slated Today

Boxing final matches will be held today with about ten bouts, including the women’s division as part of the 19th Panaad sa Negros Festivals boxing tournaments at the 2nd level South Wing of Panaad Stadium in Barangay Mansilingan, Bacolod City.

After four days of boxing matches from elimination to quarterfinals, to semifinals with boxers from different Local Government Units (LGUs), Sipalay City emerged as having the most number of entries to the finals with four; two each from Talisay, Cauayan, Don Salvador Benedicto, Murcia, Sagay and Escalante City, and one from San Carlos City.

San Carlos City Michael Domingo will face John Lorence Cueva of Talisay City in the 38 kgs; J.R Raquenel of Cauayan versus Junril Casiple of Don Salvador Benedicto in 40 kgs; Ernesto Alera of Murcia against Aljun Andung of Sagay in 42 kgs; Daves Padilla of Sipalay versus Arnold Jetajobe of Sagay in 45 kgs; Arnel Villavicencio of Don Salvador Benedicto versus Elmer Liboon of Murcia in 48 kgs; Albino Tihuk of Sipalay against Jeffrey Concerman of Talisay City in 51 kgs; Allan Vallespin of Sipalay against Rogie Nardo of Escalante City in 54 kgs; Ernesto Ibanez of Escalante City versus Jose Epacleo Campos of Cauayan in 57 kgs; and James Carlo Calago was declared champion in 60 kilograms after beating Talisay City’s Rufino Talha via Referee Stop Contest (RSC-outclass) 20 seconds in the second round of the 60 kilograms.

In the women’s division Roxanne Alisna of Don Salvador Benedict will face San Carlos City’s Mary May Panto in the 45 kilograms; while Lyka Patoc will face Marjorie Condes in the 38 kilograms. Awarding ceremonies will follow after the final bouts.* (CM Garde)
