Local News: 5 Persons Killed in Separate Shootings in Negros Occidental

Five persons were reported dead in separate shooting incidents that occurred Monday and over the weekend.

Kabankalan City Police reports revealed that Rolly Orantis, alias Panoy, 21, of Sitio Mambusao, Brgy. Tabu, Ilog town succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds on the body inflicted by unidentified perpetrators.

The incident took place about 12:53 AM, Monday at Sitio San Jose, Brgy. Salong in Kabankalan City. Recovered from the crime scene were; 3 empty shells of caliber .45 pistol, 3 fired cartridge of unknown caliber of firearm and 4 live ammunitions of 12-gauge shotgun.

Investigation to determine the motive of the incident and the identity of the suspects is underway.

In Kabankalan City, about 2 AM, Monday another incident of shooting and stabbing took place at Sitio Bugtong, Brgy. Tan-awan resulting to the death of Tonton Catubay, 20, of Sitio Tumombo, Brgy. Orong.

Initial investigation disclosed that Catubay was attacked by unidentified suspects. He sustained multiple stab and gunshot wounds resulting to his death.

Probers recovered an empty shell of .45 caliber pistol at the crime scene. The victim’s body was brought to Sola Gracia Funeral Home for post mortem examination.

Meanwhile, three more shooting incidents are being investigated by police authorities that took place Sunday.

Joseph Martinez, 47, of Sitio Camandag, Brgy. Carol-an, Kabankalan City was allegedly shot by alias Doting Regorio, 44, of Sitio Banga, Brgy. Camingawan with an unknown caliber of firearm at about 7 PM last April 22, 2012.

The victim sustained gunshot wounds on the upper portion of his chest and left arm and was immediately brought to Lorenzo Zayco District Hospital where he was declared dead two hours later.

Over in Cauayan town, police authorities reported that Eduardo Millan, 46, of Brgy. Abaca was shot with an improvised firearm allegedly by his neighbor, Alfredo Ugdiman due to an argument while under the influence of liquor.

Millan sustained a single gunshot wound on the chest and died on the spot. Ugdiman voluntarily surrendered to police officers of the town accompanied by their village official bringing the firearm used in the shooting.

Meanwhile, Arce Demitrio Jr., 26, of Hacienda Sto. Domingo, Brgy. Crossing Magallon, Moises Padilla was shot several times by unidentified assailants using a 12-gauge homemade shotgun. He succumbed to multiple wounds and was brought to Nalagon Funeral Parlor for post mortem examination.

Police investigators of different stations where the shooting incidents took place are conducting follow-up investigation to arrest the suspects and file criminal charges against them in court.

Finally, the conductor of a Ceres bus from La Carlota City, was stabbed dead by one of four men and armed with bladed weapons at about 8p.m. at Brgy. Paleka, Valladolid, Negros Occ.

PInsp. Anthony Burgos, police chief said the holdup was staged by the suspects on board the bus. Initial reports said the perpetrators made good their escape after devesting the conductor of his P1,000 cash collections, after stabbing him dead.

Police operatives are still pursuing the holdupmen as of presstime last night.* (RRM/APT)
