Sports: CV, CALABARZON Continue to Dominate Swimming Event

CEBU CITY - Central Visayas and CALABARZON (Region 4-A) continue to dominate the swimming events hauling six and five gold medals each, respectively, even as Western Visayas is catching up with two gold medals after day two of actions in the ongoing 2012 PRISAA National Games at the Cebu City Sports Complex (formerly Abellana Stadium) yesterday.

CV Loren Dale Echavez continue to make waves as she won two more gold medals in the women’s 800 freestyle and 100 freestyle Tuesday to already collected four gold medals personally after ruling the women’s 200 and 50 meters freestyle Monday.

Her teammates Seth Melendez won the men’s 200 backstroke; Abegail Sakib in the women’s 200 backstroke

and led her team in the women’s 200 frestyle relay and also won for the region the men’s side.

Southern Tagalog (Region 4-A) Wilson Rabino added another personal gold medal ruling the men’s 100 freestyle Tuesday after winning the men’s 200 freestyle and 50 freestyle Monday. Temamate Jerome Magallanes added also another by winning the men’s 200 breasstroke after his dominance in men’s 100 breaststroke and 400 individual medley Monday, while Jacklyn Orig won the women’s 100 butterfly Tuesday in addition to her winning the women’s 200 butterfly and 400 individual medley Monday. Arlyn Arcadio added another gold medal in women’s 200 backstorke; Kimberly Briones in women’s 50 backstroke, while winning the men’s 200 meter medley relay Monday.

WV added two more gold medals with Mario Hezron Calaour winning the men’s 1,500 freestyle;and Ronel Duran added another gold medal in men’s 100 butterfly after his golden performance in men’s 200 butterfly Monday.

Other gold medalists Tuesday were Novis Madera of Southern Mindanao in men’s 100 freestyle and Bicol Region’s Bryan Yot Tan in men’s 50 backstroke.* (CMGarde)
