Bacolod City Mayor Atty. Evelio "Bing" Leonardia amidst the group that
supported off-site at the Government Center the quest of Bacolod MassKara
Festival dancers last April 14, 2012 inter-town dance showdown of ABS-CBN’s
noontime Showtime. The MassKara dancers won during the monthly elimination round
that gained them entry into the grandfinals competion today, April 28.*
ABS-CBN’s Showtime dance showdown is unique because each participating team competing on-site at the ABS-CBN studio is required to organize a performing group off-site at their locality. Both the on-site team and the off-site supporting group are rated by the judges.
City Mayor Atty. Evelio "Bing" Leonardia fully supports the MassKara dancers, particularly in organizing the off-site support group performing at the lagoon area of the Government Center.
Leonardia is elated by the performance of the Bacolod MassKara Festival dancers and is grateful to ABS-CBN because they projected the City of Smiles and the MassKara Festival into millions of Filipinos watching Showtime.
"Surely, this will boost the tourism promotion of the City of Smiles and the MassKara Festival," Leonardia added.
The very good teamwork between the on-site and off-site performers has allowed the MassKara Festival dancers to enter the grandfinal competition, after they hurdled three earlier elimination rounds—the daily (on March 16th), weekly (March 17th) and monthly (April 14th).
Even Cong. Albee Benitez of the Third District of Negros Occ. has thrown his support to the Bacolod City MassKara Festival Dancers.
With the support of Leonardia and Benitez, the MassKara Festival dancers are all-prepared to present new and exciting things at the on-site arena and also at the off-site area where a large group of dance and cultural groups will be joined by students, city employees, and city and barangay officials. Victorias City Kadalag-an dancers will join the dancers.
The trailblazing persons who spearheaded this year’s successful foray into the Showtime are Toto Bantolo, teacher of the Domingo Lacson National High School, who is a top-notch choreographer; Boyet Andrada, another top-notch choreographer, and Nidz Villones, event coordinator/wedding planner. *
