MONTELIBANOS’ WORLD WAR II HIDEOUT. Hidden in the thick forest cover above Barangay Pandanon in Don Salvador Benedicto town, Negros Occidental, accessible only through rivers, giant rocks and punishing climb with both hands and feet hugging the sometimes loose mountainsides — is the former mountain "hideout and temporary home" of the late Negros Island Governor Alfredo "Peding" Montelibano Sr. during the Japanese invasion and the war years. Tyo Peding was Bacolod’s first city mayor. Mediamen Arman Toga (Negros Daily Bulletin editor and Negros Press Club president), 4th from left, and broadcaster Boy Ciocon (DYAF Veritas and NPC treasurer), 2nd from left, dared Sunday (April 22) the difficult and risky terrains to reach the historical bunker. With them was Pandanon kagawad Elmo Amit, 3rd from left, and some guides, who said that as far as they can remember, it was the first time media people reached the area.*

Members of the Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC) in the Locale of Tangub and other locales in Bacolod City and Negros Occidental, are inviting the public to their ‘Pamamahayag’, during which they will present the teachings and doctrines of the INC. The Pamamahayag will be held at 7PM on Monday January 9 and on Tuesday 10 at the Tangub chapel and in other locale chapels. Those interested to listen can just come and be guests.
