Sports: BASECOM Shun Jast Trading Escape Royal in Fil-Sino Caging

The winning streak of Jast Enterprises was shunned by Basecom, 93-70, to dealt its first loss, even as undefeated AACI Trading barely escaped Royal Star Trading, 88-86, in the 2012 Fil-Sino All Asian Countertrade Inc. 1st Conference Inter-Color basketball tournament at Po Hang Gym of Bacolod Tay Tung High School Monday.

Organic Solutions remained the only undefeated team in Class B with 2-0 card after Basecom outscored Jast in all quarters to tie their victim at 2-1.

Basecom Edward Uy delivered 24 points, 15 of them in the second quarter, Dr. Chico Coruña heaved 6 triples for 22 points, Richard Tan added 17, and Luigi Coo had 14.

Kieron Tan top scored for Jast with 15 points, Jason Ong picked up 14, Jan Jan Young shot 13, Kevin Banzon scored 10, Chris Lim and Brian Javelosa hit 8 points each.

In Class A encounter between AACI Trading and Royal Star, it was a nip and tuck battle from start to finish.

Late in the fourth quarter Peter Paul Ortaliz under goal stab gave Royal an 84-83 lead, but Julius Teruel twinner restore the lead back to Trading.

Ortaliz added another layup to recapture the lead , but Teruel point blank under goal shot coming from a nifty pass by a double teamed Robbie Jalando-on nailed the win for Trading at 87-86 lead with 26 seconds left.

Royal Star moved the ball around and found dead shot Michael Ang open at 3-point area, but his triple missed its mark with .4 seconds left in the game.

Jalando-on made the first free throw and intentionally missed the second attempt as time expired.

Mark Binguan paced Trading delivering 6 treys for 18 points, Julius Teruel and Robbie Jalando-on added 17 points each, Arvin Gustilo shot 13 points before suffering a hamstring injury in the second half and Daniel Chiu sunk 4 triples for 12 points.

Peter Paul Ortaliz paced the losers with 16, Marc Lo finished with 14, Rey Pandoro contributed 12, Michael Ang and Kenderson Hao scored 11 points each and Brian Coo had 7.* (CMGarde with reports from Stephen Tan)
