Sports: P-Noy to Grace Palaro Opening Today

LINGAYEN, Pangasinan – President Benigno Aquino III will grace the official opening of the 2012 Palarong Pambansa today despite sports hostilities already opened Sunday at the Narciso Ramos Cultural and Civic Center here.

The opening ceremony will have a parade at 7 a.m. and program starts at 10 a.m. The ceremonial turn-over of the Palarong Pambansa banner from Dapitan City Mayor Dominador Jalosjos Jr. to Governor Amado Espino will follow.

The hoisting of Palarong Pambansa, Department of Education and delegation banners will be done by selected members of the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts of the Philippines.

The oath of sportsmanship will be led by Christian Rafael Daroy, elementary taekwondo gold medalist in the Palarong Pambansa 2011.

The oath of officials will be led by Cesar Abalon, deputy secretary general of the Palarong Pambansa 2012 Technical Management and Administration.

Police Regional Office 1 Director Franklin Bucayu assured full security for all delegations.

He said police personnel are strategically deployed in all venues and billeting areas to ensure the safety and security of the participants.
