Sports: JSY Transport Joins Win Column in Fil-Sino Class B

JSY transport slipped past Jast Enterprise, 65-63 to notch its first win, Organic Solutions survived an undermanned Basecom in double overtime, 87-85 in Class B action of the 2012 Fil-Sino All Asian Countertrade 1st Conference Inter-Color basketball tournament Po Hang Gym of Bacolod Tay Tung High School Monday.

JSY pulls away early in the fourth quarter to overturned, 51-49 deficit to a 61-51 lead behind brothers Tubby and Atong Villanueva.

But Jast responded with a 12-0 run of their own transition offense ignited by Kevin Banzon to grab the lead, 63-61 with 50 seconds left.

However, Tubby Villanueva connected with back-to-back layups to bail out JSY with the last basket with 6.9 seconds left.

JSY used its two fouls to derail the offensive of Jast with 1.8 seconds to attempt a shot. JSY escaped with the victory as Banzon’s triple the triple hit the back rim as time expired.

JSY and Jast had contrast styles. Jast relied on their fast break attacks and outside shooting while JSY Transport grinds it inside the paint relying on their big men advantage and offensive rebounds to score.

Tubby Villanueva paced JSY Transport with 23 points, Jeremy Coo added 17, Atong Villanueva made 10, Celhelm Uy shot 9 and Siopao Dichavez delivered 6.

Christopher Mahinay led Jast with 18 points, followed by Banzon with 15; Brian Javelosa had 9, while Papang Oxinio produces 8 points.

Meanwhile, Organic overcame the 42- point output by Luigi Coo and a double digits going to the fourth quarter to steal the victory away from a 5- man Basecom team. Basecom outscored Organic in the first three quarters 8-17, 26-38, and 44-57.

Basecom Brian Ong delivered three triples to finish with 13 points in the payoff quarter backed up by four players scoring at least 4 points each to force overtime at 75-all.

In a closely fought double overtime, Luigi Coo scored 9 points in the fourth quarter for Basecom in the overtime, but it was not enough to hold off the balance Basecom offensive with Chingsan Su layup with 3 seconds left sealed the victory for Organic.

Brian Ong led Organic with 23 points, Simon Tan hit 16, Jerky Ong picked up 14, Chingsan Su had 10 and Alex Chua with 9.

Backstopping Coo was Dr. Chico Coruña with 17 points; RJ Iligan had 16 and Elwin Javelosa, Jr., score 6 points.
