Business: Sunrise Marketing Wins Bidding for School Supplies
The Bids and Awards Committee (BAC) of Bacolod City declared yesterday Sunrise Marketing as the winning supplier in the bidding for school supplies and
school bags to be given away by the city government to pupils from Grade 1 to 4 in the public elementary schools. The total amount of school supplies and school bags is P11.8 million. Sunrise Mar-keting’s bid amount is P11.7M, the lowest financial bid, according to BAC Chairman Atty.Goldwyn Nifras.
The other bidder, Hardy Marketing was disqualified due to eligibility requirement. So BAC did not open anymore its bid.
Nifras said the post-qualification of bidding may be conducted today. If the bidder is qualified, they will make a recommendation to the mayor to award the bid. "We hope that the purchase order will be issued this week by the city so that if it is received by the winning bidder, it can already deliver the items," Nifras also said.
For each pupil, the items include one school bag, 10 notebooks, one pencil, one ruler and crayons. For pupils in Grade 5 - 6, the city will provide t-shirts.
The BAC is composed of Nifras as chairman, Budget Officer Luzviminda Treyes as vice chairman, with Elma Advincula, Jaries Encabo and Maphilindo Polvora, as members, and Melvin Recabar, BAC Secretariat.
The Technical Working Group members are Belly Aguillon and Xenia Locsin of the City Engineer’s Office, City Accountant Ed Ravena, among others.
It is expected that the school supplies will be distributed at the earliest possible time.
Parents clamor that delayed distribution of school supplies has no more impact to them because they already bought because the teachers have given them the list of requirements to comply, at the start of regular class on June 4.*
