Local News: DAR Thanks Landowners for Cooperation
The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) here appreciated the support shown by the landowners to the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP) and the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program with Reforms and Extension (CARPER) in the respective 25th and 4th year anniversaries of the programs last month.
Teresita Mabunay, OIC-Provincial Agrarian Reform Officer I of DAR North Negros in an interview thanked the landowners for their cooperation to the implementation of the agrarian reform program of the government.
"As I see it now, most landowners are becoming cooperative maybe because they have accepted the fact that DAR is here to stay, CARP is here to stay. Most landowners here had supported the program all the way, and this is one big development in the implementation of the program," Mabunay said.
Mabunay added that by precedent, the landowners here reacted positively to the implementation of the program supported by the fact that, even the landholdings of the family of President Noynoy Aquino in Hda. Luisita are now covered by CARP.
DAR in Negros Occidental is doing all innovations and adopting measures to hasten the implementation process by hiring contract of service personnel to assist in the processing of claim folders, undertake surveys, and plan preparation in all other aspects of agrarian reform implementation. "We improve our database system and claim folder tracking system so now, the data are easier to access and are readily available," Mabunay added.
According to Mabunay, DAR North tries to accomplish their target for the year, doubling their time and exerting their best effort to reach their target.* (JSC/EAD-PIA6 Negros Occidental)
