Local News: Family Falls in Drug Bust
Three members of a family were arrested in a joint buy-bust operation conducted by local police operatives of Victorias City and Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office- Anti Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group (NOPPO-AIDSOTG), Intelligence Branch and 6 Regional Public Safety Battalion about 7:20 p.m., Monday.
Items recovered by the joint operatives of Victorias City PNP, NOPPO-AIDSOTG, NOPPO-Intelligence Branch and 6RSPB during a buy bust opeartion at Malvar St. in Victorias City, Monday evening.*
Arrested at General Malvar St., Lopez Subd., Brgy. 6, Victorias City were; Annabelle De Asis, 47, her son Ian De Asis and a 17-year old boy whose identity was withheld by NDB for alleged violation of section 5 (selling) of Republic Act (RA) 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
They were collared by PSupt. Alexander A. Muñoz, Victorias City Police chief with PCInsp. Rico C. Santotome, of NOPPO-AIDSOTG; PSInsp. Antonio Benitez, NOPPO-Intelligence branch and PInsp. Jovito Bose, of 6RPSB.
A small sachet containing suspected shabu, P500 marked bill and five more sachets containing the same suspected drug were confiscated from Annabelle’s possession.
Recovered from the teenage suspect were two units of cellular phones, 10 empty transparent packs and sachets and one opened sachet containing suspected shabu. Eleven empty plastic sachets were further seized within the area where the operation is being conducted.
The proceedings were witnessed by village head Herminigilda Dela Cruz and Brgy. Kagawad Precillo Castor with a member of the media.
The subjects were detained at Victorias City Police Station for examination; while the teenager was turned over to the Women and Children’s Protection Desk (WCPD). Criminal charges are being prepared to be filed against them.*
