The NDB Awards
Every good act, every laudable deed, big or small, deserves another, and as it is often said, and rightly so, “evil triumphs when good men do nothing.”
What does it mean? Simple. We should always aspire to do good, aspire for the best in everything that we do. And place a premium on everyone’s good deed. Appreciating one good act each day will ultimately redound to the overall change in the attitude of a community, a region and the nation in general.
One can just imagine the magnitude of the best things in life that we can contribute if all of us, or most of us, can join hands and devote even an hour or two doing a good deed everyday, aspiring for the best and appreciating each other for such positive outlook in life.
Moved by such positive motivation and the inspiring achievements of several Negrenses and non-Negrenses alike who have done exceedingly well in their fields of endeavor, your Negros Daily Bulletin (NDB) has initiated its own share of recognizing the distinct performances of deserving personalities in different aspects of community life, notably humanitarian and health services, academic and educational involvement, business and industry, community development, science and technology, good governance, human relations, corporate responsibility and exemplary public service, among others.
As journalists, media practitioners and opinion makers, the NDB staff and management, although not strictly an award-giving entity, has taken the rare challenge of pursuing a yearly search for the most outstanding citizens in this province, with the end in view of formally recognizing the most deserving in the service of humanity, the community and the country in general.
By sticking out its neck in giving the awards of recognition, usually in celebration of its anniversasry every September 9, NDB does not expect anything in return, nor any form of accolade or recognition for itself, but the support of a grateful people who stand to benefit when their leaders, public officials or civic leaders and practitioners in any field of endeavor are knownoutstanding in their work and therefore deserve the full respect, appreciation and emulation by their constituency and fellow Filipinos.
The good deeds of these people, needless to state, become a model and inspiration for our younger generation. Such noble objective defies the possibility of being rebuked or taken to task, for one reason or another, thus for the past five or so years, NDB has kept the pace of its annual search to bring to the fore the heretofore untold stories of success, dedication and sacrifice among our silent workers worthy of emulation and accolade.
Since year 2007, NDB has mobilized its manpower and resources, its influence and vigilance in all aspects of life and human involvement notably monitoring their rare exploits in the field of service to mankind deserving of praise and emulation, to recognize the most deserving, whose examples would serve as models for the future generation of leaders and practitioners in our society.
It is along this line of thought that we formally greet and extend our sincerest felicitations to our 2011 awardees, namely: (As Outstanding Negrenses) - Engr. Eddie S. Granada, Brother Rolando R.
