Brothers Shoot Each Other
A younger brother allegedly shot dead his brother and wounded another who is a PWD in Hacienda San Salvador, Barangay Andres Bonifacio, Cadiz City around 11:30 a.m. Saturday.
In a police report, John Huyatid, 47, shot dead his elder brother Jesus Huyatid, 68, single, former seaman and resident of the place. John and his brother-in-law Jaime Ortiz, husband of Lourdes surrendered to Cadiz City Police.
But Vicente Huyatid, a Barangay Kagawad says otherwise. He said that it was his brother-in-law who has a firearm that accidentally shot their elder brother and a PWD brother after an altercation brought about by Jaime’s plan to install a chicken layer or poultry in the land owned by the family without permission and permit from the city.
Vicente and another brother Rene cautioned him and prevented the delivery van to install the said project. That resulted to a heated argument as Jaime drew a .357 firearm from his waist but grappled with him. The firearm went off hitting the victim and PWD brother, identified as Jerry Huyatid, 48.
Jesus was declared dead on arrival at Cadiz District Hospital where Jerry was also confined for treatment.
The misunderstanding among them started with a land dispute inherited from their parents.*
