12-kilo Monitor Lizard Turned Over to Center

A 12-kilo Monitor Lizard, known in the dialect as “Bayawak” or “Halo,” was turned over Saturday afternoon to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (DENR-CENRO) Bago City Wildlife Rescue Center in Bantayan Park, Brgy. Poblacion, Bago. The turn-over was conducted by Jimmy Angelo F. Balista, Farm Manager of Charoen Porkphand Foods Philippines (CPF) Farm, Brgy. Crossing, Pulupandan, Negros Occidental, in coordination with the Local Government of Pulupandan.

Marang Festival 2017 Opens At Capitol

The Marang Festival, now on its second year, officially opened at the Provincial Capitol Grounds in Bacolod City, yesterday, with the theme, “Marang Innovations: Implication to Community Development”. It is participated in by five LGUs namely, Sagay City, Talisay City, La Carlota City, Calatrava, and La Castellana; they are selling freshly-harvested Marang fruits and other Marang-based products and delicacies such as ice cream, candies, polvoron, jam, and caramel tarts, coffee and many more.

DOST Training Center Up in San Carlos

The Livelihood and Skills Training Center of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) located in Brgy. III, San Carlos City was inaugurated recently.

Engr. Allan Francis Dara-ug, Provincial Director of DOST, said “this center is one of its kind in Negros Occidental which is DOST supported”.

He added that if the project shows good result, phase II of the building will follow.

The center is aimed at creating a pool of skillful manpower in preparation for the various emerging industries in the city and nearby localities.

Gasataya Bares 365-Day Accomplishment

Bacolod City Lone District Representative Greg Gasataya reported yesterday his accomplishments for the first 365 days, during his State of the District Address (SODA) at Bacolod Pavillon Hotel.

Political leaders led by Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia, Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran, Councilors Bart Orola and Renecito Novero, and City Administrator John Orola, Jr., barangay officials and partymates attended Gasataya’s SODA.
