PDEA Cites Informants’ Cooperation in Drug Seizures
The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) recognized the informants’ cooperation for big hauls of shabu recently in Negros Occidental.
Atty. Ronnie Delicana, PDEA Deputy Regional Director and Negros Occidental Satellite Office head, said, the informants have “trust and confidence” on the agency and the Philippine National Police (PNP) to curb the proliferation of illegal drugs in the Province.
“These concerned informants who helped the authorities have successful operation against illegal drugs and firearms. Without them, PDEA and PNP operations would not be successful,” Delicana said.
He told illegal drugs personalities to stop now because tomorrow maybe too late, as they are not invincible and can be arrested soon.
Delicana observed that though the latest arrested suspects are not on the watchlist and are “freelancers,” they are a big-time catch.
Delicana referred those being caught by Special Operation Unit of Provincial Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operation Task Group in southern Negros Occidental led by Superintendent Antonieto Cañete, Himamaylan City PNP chief last August 1 in Kabankalan City.
About 700 grams of suspected shabu worth P6-M and assorted firearms were confiscated from the suspects at the house of Kyle Borres Jarenio, 22, of Purok 5, Barangay 1, Kabankalan City.
Cañete said there is no evidence that shows but there were doubts that the prohibited drugs came from the New Bilibid Prisons. Kyle’s father Jonel has been jailed at the NBP. Delicana also believes so, as well as Superintendent Santiago Rapiz, chief of Victorias City PNP.
Rapiz said they have arrested many illegal drug personalities in Victorias City who admitted that they get their stuff from the NBP.* (Cyrus M. Garde)
