PSA All Set for NegOcc POPCEN

The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) here is set to hold the Census of Population and housing 2015 on Monday, August 10.

The nationwide activity aims to have a complete inventory of all housing units including population, PSA Provincial head Engr. Fred Sollesta said.

In Negros Occ. 3,000 enumerators will conduct house- to-house interviews for 25 days, but can still be extended to cover areas difficult to penetrate such as subdivisions.

Sollesta appealed to Negrenses to allow PSA enumerators to conduct the interview that will last for about 15 to 20 minutes.

Enumerators can be identified by their ID card, t-shirt, umbrella, clipboards and rain coats- all with PSA logo and design.

He also appealed to the citizens to give factual and accurate information so that the government will have relevant data on population that will serve as the basis for the implementation of projects.

Aside from the government, other entities that can use the data are the private sector and the academe.

Sollesta said the result of the census will be signed and announced by President Benigno S. Aquino III before the end of the year, while preliminary results will be released by the first quarter of 2016.*(JCM/Lljr-PIA6)
