A policeman assigned at Hinobaan PNP shot dead a person who allegedly mauled his brother- in-law around 1:30 in the afternoon Sunday at Tupas Beach Resort in Purok Tabuk Suba in Barangay 1, Hinobaan town.

Police Senior Inspector Leomel Gonzaga, Hinobaan PNP chief said the cop was Police Officer 1 Regan Madrasia, 36, married of Barangay 2, Hinobaan after they responded to the said incident.

The victim was identified as Vicente Rola Labangon, 37, married of Purok Tabuk Suba, Barangay 1.

The collection of garbage by the IPM for the period November 2 to December 1 has tremendously improved due to the arrival of additional vehicles used in garbage collection. Thus said Nelson Sedillo, head of the Department of Public Services (DPS) who reported to Mayor Evelio Leonardia that the collection efficiency of IPM construction and Development Corporation has greatly improved based on the daily monitoring report.

Compared to the first two months of its operation, IPM according to Sedillo has tripled its efficiency performance.

The works of artists from the cities of Silay, Bacolod, and Talisay will be showcased as ten of them made it as finalists to the Bacolaodiat Festival 2017 Chinese Lantern Making Contest.

The finalists are Christopher Cape (The Chozen One), Charlie Chavez (Brgy. 22), Crispulo Rosales (Kite Maker), Argie Payumo (D.A. Arts), Ebenezer Ursos, Jr. (Artek), Patrick Payumo (Adventurer), Jero Dymosco (Stedy Latsi), Clarence Gutierrez (Spectrum), Kenneth Balayo (Tribu K.A.), and Alvin Infante.

The pilgrim reliquary of Sts. Louis and Zelie Martin, parents of St. Therese of the Child Jesus, will visit the Diocese of Bacolod on January 15-17, 2017 after its turnover from the Diocese of San Carlos to the Manapla Catholic Church. Manapla is the boundary of the dioceses of San Carlos and Bacolod.

A cane cutter or “sakada” from Bugasong, Antique was stabbed dead by his fellow sakada at dawn Sunday in Hacienda Biaren in Barangay Hilamonan, Kabankalan City in Negros Occidental due to drunkenness.

Superintendent Rhea Santos, Kabankalan City PNP chief identified the victim as Roming Martesano, 47 of Bugasong, Antique who sustained hack wound on his back using a cane cutter or “espading”.

The suspect was identified as Jonard Apolinario, 20, single of Libacao, Aklan. He surrendered to his uncle who turned him over to police authorities.

Three persons were found dead in EB Magalona, Sagay City and Cadiz City in different circumstances.

In EB Magalona, Police Senior Inspector Bonifacio Aral the town police chief identified the victim as Joemarie Reomalos Sondia, 40, single of Hacienda Cayum-it in Barangay Tanza, EB Magalona, Negros Occidental.

He was found with fatal wound on the left eye and rushed to Teresita Jalandoni Memorial Provincial Hospital but was declared dead-on-arrival around 9:25 in the evening on December 30.

Two persons, one of them a woman were found dead believed to have committed suicide in Silay and Kabankalan cites recently.

The victims were identified as Joemar Gamboa Roldan 29, married of Sitio Takas, Purok Mambag-id in Barangay Balaring, Silay City and Remilda Demigilio Demisana, 37, married of Purok 6 in Barangay Bantayan, Kabankalan City.

Roldan was found hanging using a curtain at their room and was found dead by his wife Michele, 21 years old.

A native of Barangay Colonia Divina in Sagay City boxed his drinking mate after a heated argument due to misunderstanding around 7:30 in the morning Sunday.

The two were drinking in the evening of December 31 until the next day, January 1.

The victim was identified by Chief Inspector Eduardo Corpuz as Cedric Dioni Senoripa, Alias “Waki”, 21, of St. James Housing in Barangay Old Sagay, Sagay City.
