The Sugar Regulatory Administration (SRA) and the Land Bank of the Philippines (LBP) signed a Memorandum of Agreement to implement the Socialized Credit under the Farm Support and Farm Mechani-zation Programs of the Sugarcane Industry Deve-lopment Act (SIDA).

The war on drugs of the Duterte administration led to the surrender of 28,277 drug users and pushers in Negros Island Region (NIR) since July 1 last year.

The latest figures released by the Police Regional Office (PRO)-18 showed that under Oplan Tokhang, 26,275 drug users and 2,002 drug pushers in both Negros provinces yielded to authorities towards the end of December.

A person who went swimming with friends in the beach in Sitio Buswang, Barangay Bocana, Ilog town was drowned Monday.

Ilog PNP identified the victim as Charlie Vargas, 33, of Barangay Salong, Kabankalan City. He was declared dead on arrival at Lorenzo Zayco Memorial District Hospital in Kabankalan City.

Police said the victim and his companions were drinking when the victim went for a swim. He also drank too many seawater and lost consciousness.

He was immediately rushed to the hospital where he was declared dead.* (Cyrus M. Garde)

One was declared dead on the spot when stabbed by his protagonists while the one who pacified them was wounded when shot by one of the quarrelling persons in Sitio Tumpok, Barangay Mambugsay, Cauayan town in Negros Occidental around 11:20 p.m., Tuesday.

Police identified the victim as Cerilo Maquillanos Emotin, 56, married, of Purok 3, Barangay Mambugsay, Cauayan. He sustained multiple stab wounds in the different parts of his body and died on the pot. His head was also struck with a hard object.

Murder and frustrated murder cases were filed Tuesday against a drunken suspect who stabbed two minors. One of them died after few hours in the hospital while being treated for his wound.

Police refused to identify the two minors aged 16 and 15 years old who was visiting a friend in a subdivision in Barangay Granada around 1:00 P.M. Sunday, January 1, 2017.
