This resolution surprised us because, for a while, we were told that it had already been “closed and terminated.”

Be that as it may, I’d like to assure our people, the fight is not over. We shall face this case squarely, and we shall argue our case on its merits and clear our names at the proper forum. We are confident that in the end this will result to something positive for us.

What makes us even more hopeful is the fact that previous, similar cases had been overturned, and I am expecting that ours will eventually see a similar ending.

The Office of the Ombudsman found Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia along with nine current and former city officials who have been ordered dismissed from the service after they were deemed guilty of grave misconduct and gross neglect of duty for the questionable procurement of P50 million in furnitures and fixtures for the local government center between 2008 and 2010, during Leonardia’s earlier term as city executive.

A motorcycle driver who had crushed behind a cargo truck in Purok Pedrosa, Circumferential Road in Barangay Alijis Thursday afternoon, already passed away at Our Lady of Mercy Specialty Hospital in Barangay Mandalagan, Bacolod City about 10:00 in the morning Saturday.

Dr. Enrique Magalona declared him dead and reported the incident to Police Station 7 thru Senior Inspector Jovil Sedel.

Dr. Magalona said the victim sustained fatal wounds on his head and body identified as Joselito Muzones, 25, single of Phase 3 Mahogany in Barangay Handumanan, Bacolod City.

The office of the City Veterinarian reported that it vaccinated a total of 46,126 dogs and cats last year which is 85.04 percent of the total population of dogs placed at 54,000.

City Veterinarian Dr. Ma. Agueda Trinidad De la Torre said they served 25,500 clients both for its mass and walk-in vaccination in the 61 barangays of the city.

A total of 7,486 vials of vaccines came from the Department of Agriculture and from city of Bacolod delivered last year on January-500 vials of Rabisin, March 11-500 vials of Rabisin and April 15- 3000 vials of Rabisin.

Two Bacoleños were nabbed by the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) station in Manila after they were caught smuggling endangered animals at Pier 4, North Harbor, Manila, Saturday morning.

Coast guard personnel identified the suspects as Sueta Marjun, and Benjio Estrella, both reportedly residents of Bacolod City.

Bacolod Coast Guard commander, Lieutenant Jimmy Oliver Vingno said their station in Manila received a tip off that Marjun and Estrella were allegedly transporting several endangered species inside their 10-wheeler truck.

Kabankalan City Mayor Isidro Zayco has asked the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) to inspect and assess their local government initiated airport and assess if it is ready for use for small planes.

“We hope they can hasten the inspection so that we can start with the concreting of the runway.” Zayco said.

Zayco, who was interviewed by reporters at the sidelines of the city’s 41st Sinulog Festival yesterday said the city has constructed the airport on a 105 hectare lot with the runway measured at 1.5 kilometer using local funds.

A suspect who reportedly shot dead a police officer in Cebu City last December 24, 2016 has surrendered to Guilhungan City PNP in Negros Oriental recently.

Superintendent D’Artagnan Katalbas, Jr., Guilhungan City PNP chief said that Jaime Jason, 22 of Cebu City but has relatives in Guilhungan City, Negros Oriental surfaced to his office to claim responsibility in shooting to death Senior Inspector Alex Nuñez of Cebu City PNP.

Jason was one of the five brothers who ganged-up on Nuñez in a treacherous manner.

A clerk of Sagay City Employees Multi-Purpose Cooperative has been complained by officers of the cooperative for his unremitted and unsettled cash from the employees’ cooperative.

Giovanni Marande Romero, legal age of Barangay Maquiling in Sagay City was complained to Sagay City PNP by its officers.

He reportedly failed to remit P100, 000 cash amount last January 4.

He has also unsettled amount of P220, 000 since March last year.

Romero already failed to report to his work at the cooperative.*(CMGarde)

Executive Assistant Pol Senior Supt Celestino Guara, a retired police officer, announced that the lost computer desktop stolen early morning of Monday last week was recovered. The lost items according to Guara include desktop computer and amplifier, placed at the annex building of NGC used for the Business One Stop Shop.

Considering that lots of foreign and local visitors and tourists are going to Palmas del Mar Hotel and Resort , for conventions, seminars and vacation, it is necessary that the JR Torres Avenue should be included in the rehabilitation under the DOT- DPWH tourism road project.

Concretizing this move, the members of sangguniang panlungsod of Bacolod approved the resolution authored by Councilor Caesar Distrito requesting the Department of Tourism (DOT), Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and the office of Cong Greg Gasataya for this purpose.

Isabela Mayor Enrique Montilla III ordered the town’s police chief to strictly monitor the reported overloading of tricycle plying in the town’S STREET’S.

Montilla issued the order to Police Chief Inspector Edfel Balibadlan after a vehicular accident occurred Thursday last week where an overloaded tricycle turned turtle in the national highway resulting to the death of a minor and inflicting injuries to 11 students in Barangay Guintubhan, Isabela.

Two drug personalities were arrested while two were able to escape in a drug bust at Purok Pilit 2 in Barangay 6, Bacolod City Thursday night.

Police Station 2 headed by Chief Inspector Benedicto Villarias arrested Rodney Divinagracia, 24 of Purok Cereza in Barangay 3, Bacolod City; and Ryan Sanbalestera, 42 of Purok 6 in Barangay Granada also of Bacolod City.

Two of their companions, brothers Jeffrey and Jonel Salazar were able to escape.

A brother who hacked his older brother over a misunderstanding was found dead hanging inside his cell at Ilog PNP around 3:00 A.M. Friday.

Chief Inspector Nerito Lobrido, Ilog PNP chief identified the victim as Caesar Candiasa Amar, 28, laborer of Purok Masagana in Barangay Tabu, a hinterland barangay in Ilog town.

Caesar hacked his older brother Roger, 33 around 4:00 P.M. on Wednesday over a misunderstanding while under the influence of liquor.
