Effective yesterday the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) will have a new officer-in-charge.

Negros Island Region police regional director Chief Supt. Renato Gumban issued special orders number 037, which stated that Sr. Supt. Jack Limpayos Wanky of Regional Headquarters 18 is assigned to BCPO as Office-in-Charge.

Wanky will replace Sr. Supt. Flynn Dongbo whose assignment was not clear.

The continued strong gale force winds associated with the surge of northeast monsoon affecting the seaboard of Negros Occidental has caused companies operating fast crafts to already lose P4 million as of yesterday.

Frank Carbon, operator of Wessam Express said that he and other fast craft operators are adversely affected by the continued suspension of their operations.

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Bacolod has continued to bar all fast crafts and small fishing boats from leaving port until yesterday.

A couple, a high school teacher and three others, including two minors were arrested in drug bust at Purok Salmon, Barangay Zone 6, Cadiz City about 11:00 p.m. Wednesday.

Superintendent Edel Jose Manzano, Cadiz City PNP identified the suspects as couple Joebert Lucot Catambis, 24 and his wife Mary Jane Poblacion Catambis, 21. They were subjects of the operation, according to Manzano, who conducted surveillance for about one month.

That was the reaction of Moises Padilla Mayor Magdaleno Peña to the pronouncement of Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. that he would file a complaint and seek an investigation into the circumstances leading to the protective custody of self-confessed drug personality Ricky Serenio by two Negros Occidental mayors.

Chibon Uy top of the key jumper bail out Brew Kettle to escape Colt 45, 59-58 victory in the opening of Class B games in the Fil-Sino Asia Brewery Invitational Cup 2017.

In the other game, Tiger Beer made its debut against slipping past Heineken, 75-70.

Colt 45 would have been a victor with Dirk Dongon knocking a triple to take a 58-57 lead with 4 seconds left, but Uy retaliate with his jumper to seal the game.

Colt 45 led a low scoring half 26-21 before the offense picked up for both teams in the 3rd quarter.

A man was shot dead by unidentified suspect in Block 25, Lot 11, Carmela Executive in Barangay Zone 12-A, Talisay City in Negros Occidental around 1:00 P.M. Wednesday.

Superintendent Adonis Rosales, Talisay City PNP identified the victim as Joerel Villaruel, 46, single “Alias Gamay,” resident of the place.

He sustained gunshot wound at the back of his head and was immediately brought to Riverside Medical Center but was declared dead on arrival.

The unidentified suspect escaped to unknown direction using an unknown firearm.

The San Carlos Bioenergy, Inc. vowed to address the stench coming from the bioethanol plant at Barangay Palampas in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental after officials from the Negros Island regional offices of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources and Environment Management Bureau conducted an on-the-spot inspection last Jan. 14.
