The chief of the Doña Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH) in Bacolod City denied allegations that the death of a pregnant woman and her unborn twin were a result of negligence on the part of the attending staff.

The bill creating the Negros Island Region (NIR) is now waiting to be calendared by Congress, its author Abang Lingkod party list Rep. Stephen ‘Carapali Lualhati’ Paduano said yesterday.
In an interview with DYEZ-Aksyon Radyo Bacolod Sunday, Paduano said he believes that the NIR “will be an example of the plan of President Rodrigo Duterte to shift to federalism.”
“Negros has the capability to chart its own direction and development,” Paduano pointed out.
A National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) personnel in Bacolod City, linked by self-confessed drug personality Ricky Serenio in his affidavit, is willing to undergo a lie detector test, an investigator of the case said.
NBI special investigator William de Arca yesterday said that Boy Gabuyao “is willing to undergo a lie detector test along with Serenio.”

A construction worker of Purok Bulak, Barangay Mandalagan, Bacolod City was drowned around 7:00 a.m. Monday in the river of Hacienda Bayabas, Barangay Daga, Cadiz City, Negros Occidental.
Police Superintendent Edel Jose Manzano, Cadiz City PNP chief identified the victim as Randy Cañete, 19, single, of Purok Bulak, Barangay Mandalagan, Bacolod City.
The victim and companion identified as Ricardo Geturiagao, Jr., 32, also of Barangay Mandalagan in Bacolod City were looking for shell locally known as “Kayog” in the river.
A drug pusher who was subjected to “Oplan Tokhang” in August was nabbed in a drug bust in Purok 4, Rivera Street, Barangay Granada, Bacolod City Monday morning.
Chief Inspector Sherlock Gabana, Police Station 5 chief identified the suspect as Agaton Carag Ramos, 45, of Charito Heights, Barangay Granada.
Gabana said they were able to arrest Ramos while driving a tricycle in the place to deliver his stuff to his customers.
Five suspects were arrested in a drug bust in Purok Fire, Barangay 8, Bacolod City Sunday evening.
Police Chief Inspector Benedicto Villarias, Police Station 2 head identified their subject in the drug bust as Jeric Bayotas, 26, “Alias Ric-Ric,” of San Juan Street, Purok Fire, Barangay 8.
Confiscated from him was one elongated sachet of suspected shabu in exchange of P500 marked money; another one big sachet of suspect shabu or “bulto” and other drug paraphernalia.

The Bacolod City Veterinarian Office (CVO) is urging the public to adopt animals from the veterinarian office.
City Veterinarian Dr. Maria Agueda Trinidad De la Torre said only 23 dogs were adopted from their office in 2016.
To adopt an animal, one should go to the CVO located at the City Hall down town area and fill out a form; then proceed to the dog pound at the old slaughterhouse at Brgy. 35, to choose the dog they want to adopt.
She said 478 dogs were impounded at the city pound last year and about 332 were surrendered.
Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia is now focusing on anti drug campaign for the city. He said during the presscon yesterday, “We want the city drug free. And Wanky is the man for this. Therefore, we have to double our efforts especially the police, on anti drug campaign.”
