The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) is eyeing negligence resulting in homicide and abortion charges against staff members of the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH) involved in the mysterious death of a 21-year-mother and her unborn twin.

Special investigator William de Arca said that they already received the complaint filed by Jose Penario, father of Mary Joy Geronca-Penario.

He has already submitted a sworn affidavit to us, de Arca said, “it will be the basis for us to conduct an investigation and autopsy.”

Self-confessed drug personality Ricky Serenio may be transferred to the custodial facility of the Philippine National Police (PNP) headquarters in Camp Crame, Quezon City.

Police regional director, Chief Supt. Renato Gumban, said they are working on the possible transfer of Serenio because of what he describes as the “high threat level” on the latter’s life.

“I have talked with the PNP’s top brass last Saturday, and we all agreed on moving Serenio to Camp Crame,” Gumban said.

Business tycoon Henry Sy, owner SM malls that started in the Philippines and now with branches in Asian countries, will be the third honorary mayor of Bacolod City.

Jennifer Gochangco-Ong, chair of the 12th Bacolaodiat Festival on January 27-28, announced at a press conference yesterday, that Sy has accepted the invitation of Bacolod to become honorary mayor of which, the ceremony will be held on Saturday, January 28 at 2 pm at the Bacolod City Government Center.

Aside from becoming an honorary mayor, he will also be honored as an adopted son of the city.

A multi-sectoral group called on beverage companies and the various government agencies to stop the importation of high fructose corn syrup (HFCS) saying it will kill the sugar industry.

During its launching yesterday, Wennie Sancho, lead convenor of the Save the Sugar Industry Movement (SAVE-SIM), said a resolution is addressed to the Office of the President, the Sugar Regulatory Administration (SRA), Congress, and the different multinational softdrink companies.

The key witness, who recanted his statement that two policemen are responsible in the December 25, 2016 robbery/homicide of a retail establishment in Bacolod, was shot dead.

Byron Peruelo Bacarro of Alunan Baybay, Brgy. 35, Bacolod was shot dead Tuesday night (January 24) and his body was found at Hacienda Carmen in Barangay Granada, Bacolod, with fatal gunshot wounds in the head from a .45 caliber firearm.

Chief Inspector Sherlock Gabana, Police Station 5 chief said, the victim was with the suspects in a car who shot him when he disembarked.

A live-in partner of an inmate who tried to slip contraband inside Handumanan District jail was nabbed around 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 24.

Darlene Esporas Silva, 22, of Barangay Mambulac, Silay City tried to slip a sachet of shabu pasted on her body using three Band-Aids claiming that she has a wound.

But alert female jailguard asked her to peel off the Band-Aid. She first refused but the jail guard insisted and a sachet of shabu fell from the supposed wound.

Bacolod City Police Station 6 has identified the man who was shot dead along Corazon Aquino Drive in Barangay Taculing at 1:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 24.

Police Chief Inspector Jovil Sedel, Police Station 6 chief, said the victim’s sister identified him at the funeral parlor.

The victim was identified as Joevel Trias Batusbatusan, 23, of Barangay 23, Bacolod City.

His sister told police authorities that his brother has just came out from Handumanan Jail for some charges against him.
