A labourer was found dead and his body fished out from the seawaters of Manapla town on Monday, January 30.

Police Chief Inspector Edencio Gregorio, Manapla PNP chief identified the victim as Rogelio Paderes, legal age, resident of Hacienda Birao, Barangay Malubon, Sagay City.

The victim was positively identified by his sister Leonila Gantalao in the funeral parlor in Manapla town.

The Judicial Vicar of the Diocese of Bacolod, bared that the creation of the Queen of Peace (QPP) church as a parish was done without consultation and violated the canon law.

Thus, said Msgr. Victorino Rivas amid the ongoing petition of the St. John’s Institute (SJI) before the Diocese of Bacolod to revert the QPP, more popularly known as Hua Ming church that sits on their property, a chaplaincy.

Despite its lack of manpower, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Negros Island Region (PDEA-NIR), is confident in its anti drug campaign in the island.

In a text message, PDEA-NIR Director Attorney Roselyn Borja said under section 84 of RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, one of their powers and duties is to undertake national campaign on drug abuse, prevention, and drug control programs.

ESJ & Sons-Asahi dominated Rotary of Metro Bacolod/Rexidol-Cobra 90-57 for its third win, while Heineken barged into the win column to defeat erstwhile unbeaten Brew Kettle, 75-54 last Wednesday in the Fil-Sino Asia Brewery 1st Invitational Cup at the USLS Coliseum.

With the win, ESJ & Sons remains the only unbeaten team in Class B. ESJ took the lead in the first quarter, 24-19 where Bryan Javelosa scored the last 8 points for ESJ & Sons in the quarter.

SAN CARLOS CITY - Around 200 teams are expected to gather in the upcoming 1st Puma Se7ens Cup Visayas Leg at the San Julio Realty football fields on March 4-5, 2017.

This was recently revealed during the official launching of the football event at the San Carlos City Session Hall with Puma representative Joemar Moscaya.

According to Moscaya, it’s Puma’s commitment of bringing football in the provinces to give opportunities for provincial-based footballers to experience competitive football.

A drunken son was stabbed dead by his father after he allegedly set to burn their house in Proper of Barangay Udtongan, Escalante City past 7:00 P.M. Sunday.

Superintendent Leonardo Borromeo, Escalante City PNP OIC chief identified the victim as Jerson Tomo Benigay, 31, married, resident of the place.

He sustained a stab wound in the stomach and was rushed to Dr. Vicente F. Gustilo Memorial District Hospital in Escalante City but was declared dead on arrival.
