Seven more police officers from the Negros Island Region (NIR) has been relieved and assigned to the Personnel Holding Accounting Unit of the Directorate for Personnel and Records Management in Camp Crame.

This was confirmed yesterday by Chief Inspector Dianne Catedral, spokesperson of the Police Regional Office-18.

The 2017 Palarong Negros Island Region (NIR) is set to kick off with 12,000 student-athletes, coaches, technical officials and delegation heads from 16 school divisions on February 24 to March 1 at Gov. Mariano Pedices Memorial Stadium.

Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr., yesterday said he supports the move of President Rodrigo Duterte in terminating the peace talks with National Democratic Front (NDF) as well as the withdrawal of the ceasefire with the New People’s Army (NPA).

“There have been violations on the part of the rebels that pushed President Duterte to lift the ceasefire,” Marañon said.

The Governor said that he is reiterating his call on the NPA rebels to come down and talk things out with him.

The Cadiz Anti-Drug Council (CADAC) headed by City Mayor Patrick Escalante in close coordination with the DSWD, DILG, PNP, CHO, NACPHIL and other agencies conducted a Wellness Camp for 45 drug surrenderers starting from February 6-10, 2017 held at Laura Beach Resort in Brgy. Daga, Cadiz City.

As party of its renewed anti-criminality campaign, the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), yesterday launched its anti criminality campaign called “Oplan: Bakbak” at the BCPO headquarters.

Superintendent Noel Polines, chief of operations and planning unit of the BCPO said the aim of the campaign is to increase the number of cops who are patrolling the streets.

A person who went swimming with three others drowned at Matab-ang River in Barangay Matab-ang, Talisay City, Negros Occidental yesterday afternoon.

Police Superintendent Adonis Rosales, Talisay City PNP chief identified the victim as Antonio Garcia, 47, of Purok Sambag in Barangay Mandalagan Bacolod City.

He went swimming in the river with three others identified as his step-son Eduardo Respuesto, Michael Respuesto and Roger Magtuba.

They reportedly went swimming around 11:45a.m. after drinking liquor in their house.
