Jealousy and old grudge was the motive in the killing of another person in Purok 4, Barangay Nabalian, Himamaylan City around 5:45 p.m. Tuesday.

Police Chief Inspector Antonio Benitez, OIC Police Chief of Himamaylan City PNP identified the victim as Roberto Liboon Arsenal, 50, married, of Purok 6, Barangay Nabalian, Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental.

He sustained multiple stab wounds in the body and was declared dead at Gov. Valeriano Gatuslao Memorial District Hospital in Himamaylan City.

The Commission on Human Rights (CHR) is conducting an investigation into an alleged beating incident inside a classroom of a public school, Romeo Baldevarona, CHR-Negros said.

Baldevarona said that Merly Obina of Purok Malipayon, Barangay 35, Bacolod City filed a complaint against the school adviser of her 9-year old niece.

Four jail officers, including a warden of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) in Sipalay City, Negros Occidental, were relieved from their posts after a female inmate claimed that they sexually harassed her Monday.

Senior Supt. Hernan Grande, director of BJMP-Negros Island Region (BJMP-NIR), ordered the relief of Inspector Gerald Diano and Senior Jail Officer 4 Benjie Dimasuhid, warden and deputy warden of BJMP-Sipalay, respectively, as well as the two jail officers, who were directly involved in the incident.

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in the Negros Island Region (NIR) has granted Hinobaan town an 11,000-hectare land under its Enhanced National Greening Program.

Mayor Ernesto Estrao yesterday said that the municipal government has organized citizens in its 13 barangays.

“Last year, they have authorized us to plant in 5,000 hectares in Brgy. Damutan in Damutan Valley. This year it will be an additional 11,000 hectares,” Estrao said.

The Mayor said he wants all his constituents to benefit from the program.

The theme for this year’s celebration is “Together in Quest for the Best - Go, Bago!” is a call and a challenge by the new administration of Mayor Nicholas Yulo for a more united Bago City in its journey toward progress and development.

Today, February 10, the City Government through the City Population Office will sponsor the whole day Youth Summit at the Manuel Y. Torres Memorial Coliseum and Cultural Center.

A member of the Order of Augustinian Recollects joined his joined his master on February 6, 2017. Rev. Fr. Alberto “Bebot” S. Avanzado, OAR was born on May 11, 1958 to Epifanio and the former Catalina Sojerido in Bacong, Negros Oriental. He answered God’s call after his Secondary Education at Holy Family High School in Bacong. He first entered at the San Carlos Junior Seminary in Mabolo, Cebu for his AB Philosophy and English degree. He joined the Order in when he pursued his Theology studies at the Recoletos Formation House, Quezon City. He received his simple profession on May 24, 1986 and officially joined the Order by receiving his solemn profession on June 11, 1989. He was received to the Order of Deacons on the feast of St. Nicolas of Tolentino on September 10, 1989 and was ordained to the Sacred Priesthood on September 9, 1990.

A 12-year-old boy was killed when he was bumped by a vehicle while crossing the highway of Purok Mabinay, Barangay Locotan, Kabankalan City around 6:00 p.m. Tuesday.

But the incident was reported to Kabankalan City PNP the next day, February 8, at about 3:30 p.m.. The victim was declared dead around 12:00 midnight of February 8 at Tabugon District Hospital in Barangay Tabugon, Kabankalan City.

Superintendent Rhea Santos, Kabankalan City PNP said the victim was identified as Richard Paraiso Maglapas, Jr., 14 years old, resident of Barangay Tabugon, Kabankalan City.

A sugarcane worker was found dead with stab and gunshot wound at Crossing Sitio Malino, Hacienda Bacsay, Barangay Robles, La Castellana town at dawn Tuesday, belated police report disclosed.

The victim was identified as Wenceslao Gaboya Calago, 53, married, resident of Sitio Sapua, Barangay Masulog, also in the town.

He sustained multiple stab on his back and stomach and gunshot wounds in the chest.

His body was found by Rosemarie Silverio Domingo, 31, single, resident of the place. She reported her find to La Castellana PNP that also responded to the area.

A detachment commander of Cansalongon Detachment of Philippine Army (PA) reportedly mauled his CAFGU man around 10:00 a.m. on February 8, 2017 in Isabela town, Negros Occidental.

The CAFGU member was identified by Chief Inspector Edfel Balibadlan, Isabela PNP chief as Estaniel Sitoy Pulmare, 29, married, resident of Sitio Dinapugan, Barangay Santol, Binalbagan town.

Balibadlan said they received report from Ignacio Arroyo, Sr., Memorial District Hospital of the incident where Pulmare was admitted there for contusions of his body.
