A helper of Nena’s Rose Inasal was found dead with stab wounds at Lopez Jaena-Libertad Street, Barangay 40, Bacolod City at dawn Thursday.

His brother and cousin identified him at Corazon L. Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital as Rady Gelacio, 31, native of Barangay Lima-Lima, Isabela town.

Police Station 6 first did not identify the victim when they brought him to the hospital.

A man who introduced himself as “professor” of a university in Bacolod City was nabbed by elements of Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA-18) at South Terminal (Sambok) in Bacolod City around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.

PDEA-18 Agent Ces Alvaño, Chief of Plans and Operations Division identified the suspect as Eduardo Arcenas Simons, 54, resident of Barangay Villamonte, Bacolod City.

The PDEA reportedly received information of the illegal transaction by the suspect and they were able to buy items from him resulting to a buy bust operation at the South Terminal.

More than P800,000 damage in sugarcane plantation in Kabankalan City went up in smoke Tuesday morning. The fire originated from another sugarcane plantation in Sitio Katilingban, Barangay Orong.

Sugarcane planter Victoriano Soloaga Sola, Jr., 64, married, of Kabankalan City reported the incident to Kabankalan City PNP. Sola said about six hectares were damaged by fire.

Arson investigator of Kabankalan City PNP disclosed that the fire came from another plantation owned by Board Member Pedro “Bebing” Zayco which damaged about half a hectare.*(CMG)

The driver of a single motorcycle was killed and his two backriders injured after they figured in a road mishap in Victorias City 11:00 p.m. Tuesday.

Superintendent Herman Garbosa, Victorias City PNP chief identified the victim as Earl Tabujara, of legal age, of Barangay 21, Victorias City. He was declared dead on arrival at Ikaayong Lawas Medical Foundation, by Dr. Mary Rose de La Cruz.

His two injured companions were Nero Salati-it, of legal age and Valentine Salcedo, 27, all of Barangay 21, Victorias City.

Two fishermen from Sipalay City after they went fishing in Palawan seawaters are still missing and search and rescue operation is being conducted by the Philippine Coast Guard.

Bacolod Coast Guard head, Lieutenant Senior Grade Oliver Vingno said the two fishermen went fishing on February 8 and supposed to go back home to Sipalay City after four days. Until now they are still unaccounted.

Vingno identified them as Jezrel Valencia, 32, and Delatoy Sumbi, 18, all of Barangay 1 in Sipalay City.

Board Member Alain Gatuslao (5th district) wants to pass a separate ordinance focused on food production..

Gatuslao, chairman of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan Committee on laws, rules and ordinances said, instead of only amending the existing Anti-GMO (Genetically Modified Organism) Ordinance, the SP wants a separate ordinance on food production.

Carlos Hilado Memorial State College (CHMSC) recently approved a budget of P300,000 for the school’s Solid Waste Management Program.

Chief Administrative Officer for Finance Lawyer Juliet Pasustento said the allocation will cover the four CHMSC campuses- main campus in Talisay, Fortune Towne, Alijis and in the town of Binalbagan.

The move aims to strengthen the institution’s environmental program in support to the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act or R.A. 9003.

The St. John’s Institute (SJI) community expressed gratitude to Bacolod Bishop Patricio Buzon for giving attention to their appeal to revert the Queen of Peace church from its present status as a territorial parish, to a personal parish.

In a statement sent yesterday to local media here, SJI said that Buzon “finally answered our prayers.”

The reversion of the Queen of Peace church popularly known here as Hua Ming, is “in fulfillment of the wishes of our founding fathers, Msgr. John Su and Msgr. John Liu.”

AX Currency-Barista posted two successive wins in Class A action of the Fil-Sino Asia Brewery 1st Invitational at Po Hang Gym of Bacolod Tay Tung High School.

Last Saturday, they defeated Super Twins-VITAMILK, 82-80 and last Monday, the Ice Sportswear-Creamy Delight, 106-105.

The other game Saturday was between Homesite-Absolute that also beat Talisay Gwapo-Sunkist, 76-68 played last Saturday at the TTHS Po Hang Gym.

In game Monday, AX Currency Rodolfo Arazo scored on a put back as time expired to stun Ice Sportswear-Creamy Delight.

The Bacolod City Health Office (CHO) is urging the public to visit their barangay health centers to have their blood pressure checked and be given medicines.

Medical Officer Ava Joy Infante said doctors, nurses or barangay health workers are willing to screen, interview and give advice to those who are having problems with hypertension.

“A major cause of heart disease is hypertension, and any blood pressure that is over 140/90 in consecutive check-ups would indicate that a person already has hypertension,” Infante said in an interview with PIA.

Class ’85, ’90, and ’96 spearheaded the 2017 NOHS @ 115 - NOHSAAI “Unity Cup” Bowling Fellowship bracketing identification after the 2nd night at Negros Super Lanes recently.

The Iran Pielago-propolled C’85 continue to lead the eliminations hitting another best triple of its team with 1,496 pin falls. They gathered a three-game score of 467-521-508.

Still at running 2nd is ’90 with an aggregate score of 1,424 pfs; while ’96 moved up to 3rd with 1,446 followed by ’97 with 1,486, and ’84 with 1,433.

Kami Mga Hubin (KMH) Transcor and Triple “D” took an early lead after day 1 in their respective divisions of the ongoing 2017 KMH Inter-Squad Trios Duckpin Bowling League Season 2 at Negros Super Lanes.

Headed by Robbie Elegado, the defending champion KMH Transcor recorded the highest triple of the night in the Men’s division with 993 pin falls. The squad had a three-game score of 323-308-352.

In the Women’s side, Triple ‘D’ with its prized player Precy Pillo got a headstart toppling 907 (313-318-276) pfs.

A school site will soon be realized for the Tinongan National High School (TNHS) in Isabela town, Negros Occidental.

Suzanne Catague, principal of the TNHS revealed that Isabela Councilor Patrick Miguel Montilla has been facilitating for the lot where the 20 classrooms for the high school will be constructed.

“It is a dream come true,” Catague said.

She added that they have requested funding allocation from the Department of Education for the construction of the 20 classrooms which include two laboratories and it was granted last year.

The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) and the National Council on Disability Affairs (NCDA) have joined forces to give free skills training for persons with disabilities (PWDs) nationwide.

On February 15, TESDA Director General Secretary Guiling “Gene” Mamondiong and NCDA Executive Director Carmen Reyes-Zubiaga formally signed the memorandum of agreement (MOA) that would pave the way for the two agencies to help the PWDs.
