The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) arrested a revenue officer in an entrapment operation Wednesday morning for allegedly extorting money.

Nabbed was Revenue Officer 1 Julie S. Hernaez of the Bureau of Internal Revenue District Office No. 77 in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental.

Sugar Regulatory Administrator Anna Rosario Paner yesterday stood firm on Sugar Order (SO) No. 3 insisting that she has “done the necessary consultations.”

Paner was reacting to the statements of Agriculture Sec. Emmanuel F. Piñol yesterday in a national daily that he wants the implementation of SO 3 deferred “pending consultations with soft-drink makers.”

With the thrust of the government in combating the proliferation of illegal drugs in the country, the functionality of the Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Councils (BADACs) is vital in increasing the awareness of the community of the ill effects of drugs. In line with this, the City Anti-Drug Abuse Council in coordination with the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG)-Bacolod City, conducted a two-day Strengthening of BADACs at Middletown Hotel last February 27-28, 2017.

A drug personality in Calatrava was arrested by police operatives in a drug bust in Barangay Suba, Calatrava town in Negros Occ. on Wednesday.

Police Chief Inspector John Joel Batusbatusan, Calatrava PNP chief identified the suspect as Andrew Jison Cueva, of legal age, resident of Barangay Suba, in the town.

Batusbatusan said they have conducted monitoring on the suspect who surrendered to police during the implementation of “Oplan Tokhang” last July.

Defending champion Kami Mga Hubin (KMH) is ready to face the winner of Sports Journ-ASSFBI Mixed showdown as the 2017 KMH Inter-Squad Trios Duckpin Bowling League Season 2 stepladder final round bowl off at Negros Super Lanes tonight.

The Season 1 champions led by Peter Deocadiz successfully secured their twice-to-beat advantage in the elimination round.

KMH front-run the 14-squad Men’s division with a total of 7,552 pin falls during the 24-game eliminations.

A drug pusher was arrested around 1:30 a.m. yesterday, March 16 in Phase 2, Sitio Wayang, Barangay 3, Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental.

Police Chief Inspector Antonio Benitez, OIC Himamaylan City PNP chief identified the suspect as Reno Tepacia Clamor, 31, single, resident of the place.

Confiscated from him were three small sachets of suspected shabu including the buy bust item in exchange for P300 marked money.

Also confiscated were drug paraphernalia and P50 bill believed to be cash proceed.

He is detained and charged with violation of RA 9165.*

The 37-hectare lot in the old airport of Bacolod City is being cited as Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) Zone based on the proposal submitted by City Administrator Atty. John N. Orola, Jr. and Mayor Evelio Leonardia to the office of PEZA.

The development in Bacolod presently is northwards, so they want to spread it to the south.

Leonardia said he brought up the matter again on Tuesday to PEZA consultants Reymar Mansilungan and Emmanuel Lumanao, who conducted an orientation with Bacolod businessmen and landowners at the Bacolod City Government Center.

Members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) of Bacolod City expressed gratitude to Sugar Regulatory Administration (SRA) in yesterday’s session, for its prompt action in issuing Sugar Order No. 3 which controls the entry of High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS), that the Negrenses are vehemently opposing.

The resolution of Councilor Caesar Distrito, Chairperson of the Committee on Laws, Ordinances and Good Government cited the issuance of the said order which is a great help to the sugar planters of the City and the Province of Negros Occidental.
