The chairman of the House Committee on Constitutional Amendment said here Friday that the Negros Island Region (NIR) and the possible redistricting of Bacolod City will not be affected by the proposed shift to federal system of government.

Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr., and Vice Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson and local officials will join about 5,000 protestors in a multi-sectoral rally today in front of the plant of Coca-Cola- FEMSA at Brgy. Mansilingan, Bacolod City.

Greg Vallejera, Jr, retired Chief Air Traffic Control division of the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP), a multi-awarded member of the Toastmasters International, ignited the students of Bacolod City College when he said, “communications make the world go round.”

As guest speaker during the speech competition dubbed, Battle of the Champions 2017 held Saturday, March 18, at SM City Bacolod, which was participated in by students taking up Associate in Computer Technology (ACT) in the Speech and Oral Communication (English 131) Subject, Vallejera, a Distinguished Toastmaster who was three-time national champion in the Humorous Speech Contest of Toastmasters International representing the Barangay toastmasters club wherein he was one of the pillars, emphasized to the students that, “by any means communication should convey meaningful message, understandable, and compliant.

An Australian national was stabbed dead by his worker in Purok Iglawod in Barangay Tooy, Himamaylan City Saturday noon.

Senior Inspector Raymundo Franco, deputy police chief of Himamaylan City PNP identified the victim as Warren Hill, of legal age and residing in the said place.

He sustained multiple stab wounds in the body and was rushed to Gov. Valeriano M.Gatuslao Memorial District Hospital in the city but was declared dead-on-arrival.

The suspect was identified as Robert Flores, 20, who escaped after the killing.

A rape suspect in raping a 20-year-old woman was arrested by Victorias City PNP at his house in Purok Daanbanwa in barangay 9, Victorias City Friday.

Police Superintendent Herman Garbosa, OIC police chief of Victorias City PNP identified the suspect as Edwin Conde, 23 and a tricycle driver.

Conde was tagged as the suspect in raping a 20-year-old who rides with him in going to Purok Adjie also in Barangay 9 but he brought the woman in a secluded area in the barangay and raped.

He then brought the woman at their house it was also reported by Garbosa.

A former member of the Philippine Army was shot dead by at least five young men while the victim was sipping coffee in a store at Barangay Sebucawan in Isabela town about 3:30 in the afternoon Friday.

Police chief Inspector Edfel Balibadlan, Isabela PNP OIC chief identified the victim as Mervin Pontoy Tovis, 49, married of Barangay Libas also in Isabela town.

He sustained gunshot wound on his back when the suspects went near him and fired several times in the head to make sure the victim was dead.

At the public forum on Constitutional Reform, Friday, March 17, 2017, at the Lobby of the Bacolod Government Center, several Negrenses have expressed quandary why the need to revise the Constitution. Attended by about 300 representatives from different sectors in Bacolod City and Negros, Leyte Representative, Roger Mercado who chairs the committee on Constitutional amendments, entertained questions from the attendees.

Some groups supported the amendment while some strongly opposed it.

La Castellana Mayor Rhumyla Nicor-Mangilimutan yesterday said that her brother who is also a councilor in the said locality has already been “cleared of any link to illegal drugs.”

Mangilimutan’s brother, Councilor Alberto “White” Nicor III was included in the “narcolist”of public officials subjected to surveillance by police authorities in the province of Negros Occidental in connection with the Operation Tokhang of the PNP anti-illegal drugs campaign.

Having contributed to the reduction of TB illness in the barangay, Councilor Caesar Distrito is pushing for the provision of P3,000.00 monthly allowance for those involved in the implementation of Barangay Level TB Task Force.

The amount will be taken from the budget of Php 1. 5 Million to be allocated every year in the City’s budget.

Police Senior Supt Tomas Martir of the Police Regional Office 18 Public Safety Battalion, said in yesterday’s radio interview that there were three hundred seventy eight (378) policemen to be deployed today in different areas to secure the conduct of a weeklong Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) summit that starts today Monday, March 20, 2017 here in Bacolod City.
