The Office of the President, Malacañang Palace through the Acting Deputy Executive Secretary for legal affairs, Ryan Alvin R. Acosta, has asked former Bacolod City Mayor Monico Puentevella to submit within 15 days his verified answer to the complaint filed against him by Samuel Montoyo of the Save Bacolod Movement.

The directive also emphasized that he should submit the verified answer, not a Motion to Dismiss, for Grave Abuse of Authority and Gross Neglect of duty.

The Northern Negros Electric Cooperative (NONECO) wants the National Grid Power Corp. (NGCP) to limit the production output of solar energy to the power lines, its general manager said.

Lawyer Danny Pondevilla, NONECO general manager, said that he is suggesting the temporary remedy to “at least minimize the power fluctuations, while a lasting solution is being looked into.”

Pondevilla has pointed to the operation of solar power plants in northern Negros as the reason behind the power fluctuation in their franchise area.

The Ombudsman in the Visayas has asked Hinobaan Mayor Ernesto Estrao to answer in five days the allegations raised by Task Force Crusaders (TFC) over alleged “two questionable infrastructure projects” in the town.

In a letter to Deputy Ombudsman Paul Elmer Clemente in the Iloilo Regional Satellite Office, TFC National Deputy Commander John Chiong dated March 13, said the Hinobaan Fish Terminal and Port Project worth P17 million is not yet completed two years after the funds were released.

“Just do it.”

This was the reaction of Chief Supt. Renato Gumban, Negros Island Region (NIR) police director to the threat made by relieved Negros Occidental police director Senior Superintendent William Señoron that he would shoot himself in front of the (police) regional office, “if truthful investigations and validation” could prove he is involved in the illegal drug trade and gambling.

“You said that, you should do it,” Gumban challenged Señoron in a radio interview yesterday.

The Provincial Veterinarian Office expressed alarm on the rising cases of rabies in Cauayan town in southern Negros Occidental.

Provincial Veterinarian Dr. Renato Decena said there are already two confirmed rabies deaths in the town just this March.

A 78-year-old man drowned in the river of Barangay Bulanon, Sagay City yesterday.

Chief Inspector Eduardo Corpuz, Sagay City PNP chief identified the victim as Cefriano Tipon-Tipon, of Purok Kalubihan, Barangay Bulanon, Sagay City.

The victim reportedly crossed the river but did not make it to the other side due to his age.

He was rescued by the City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Unit of Sagay City but it was too late.

Two collectors were held up and robbed of their money in Omapog Bridge, Barangay Luna, Cadiz City and in Barangay Haba in Candoni, Negros Occidental Tuesday and Monday, respectively.

Chief Inspector Rocky Desear, OIC Police Chief of Cadiz City PNP identified the victim as Joseph Siacor, Jr., 26, married, resident of Purok Mabuhay, Barangay Poblacion, Toboso town.

A motorcycle driver was killed when he hit a house in a curve at Barangay San Fernando Proper, Talisay City around 4:15 p.m. Monday.

Superintendent Adonis Rosales, Talisay City PNP identified the victim as Gerard Sayon, 21, single, resident of Hacienda Alibasao, Barangay Concepcion, Talisay City.

He sustained head and leg injuries and was rushed to Talisay City Health Unit but was declared dead on arrival by Dra. Macote.

The championship Shoot-Out for the month March in the ongoing Tenpin Masters Challenge (TMC) Season Three is set to bowl off at East Bowling Center, Lopue’s East Centre in Bacolod City tonight, 8:05PM.

First seed Herman Santos led the top 10 qualifiers with his 2-set highest score total of 1,330 pin falls. Santos toppled a double set score of 639-691 including his plus 10 handicap points per game.

He captured his 1st monthly title for this season on September of 2016.

A man was struck dead with a steel pipe by the son of his live-in partner in Phase 4, Fatima Village, Barangay Rizal, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental Tuesday.

Superintendent Arturo Fullero, OIC chief of San Carlos City PNP identified the victim as Nolito Daniel, 48, resident of the place.

He was hit in the head and was rushed to San Carlos City Hospital but died while undergoing treatment.

Police identified the suspect as Sauri Obrero, 28, also of the place. He escaped after the incident and is now at-large.
