The National Electrification Administration (NEA) has granted an “AAA” rating to the Central Negros Electric Cooperative (Ceneco), General Manager Sulpicio Lagarde Jr. said.

Lagarde credited the employees of the electric cooperative for the accomplishment.

He said that the new rating means Ceneco “is fully compliant with financial, institutional and technical standards set by the NEA as of 2016.”

This was also a “vindication” for his part after his termination due to the alleged poor rating of the cooperative, Lagarde said.

Host-Cebu teams are also looking forward to capture spots when the 2017 Philippine Open Tchoukball Invitational opens at the City Sports Club in Ayala Business Park, Cebu City tomorrow.

The 3-day international sporting event will feature the best teams in the world such as ranked #1 Taiwan for the men’s division followed by Singapore (#2), and Malaysia (#8).

For the women’s side, Taiwan remain on top of the world ranking; while Singapore is ranked #3 and Malaysia at #16.

The Sugar Alliance of the Philippines (SAP) and other industry stakeholders are gearing up for the battle that is expected to ensue in the upcoming Senate hearing against the unabated entry of High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS) that has led to a huge drop in sugar prices.

SAP spokesperson, Atty. Dino Yulo said there are already several meetings with various stakeholders from outside of Negros Occidental who are set to join the anti-HFCS campaign and lobby for the retention of Sugar Order No. 3 that will regulate its entry.

A bakery owner in Vallehermoso, Negros Oriental was collared in a raid and confiscated with a firearm around 3:30 p.m. Monday, while another yielded a “sulpak” in Barangay 30, Bacolod City.

Elements of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) in Negros Island Region raided the house of Leonides Tetano, 33, owner of LG Bakeshop in Sitio Tinobian, Barangay Poblacion, Vallehermoso town in Negros Oriental.

The raiding team was armed with search warrant issued by Judge Mario Otoridad of the Regional Trial Court, Branch 64 in Guilhungan City.

Two drug suspects were arrested in separate drug buy bust in Valencia and Guilhungan City Monday.

Police authorities identified the suspects as Kevin Desol, 23, single, of Barangay Togtogon, Sibulan town in Negros Oriental; and Ramil Managaytay, 20, single, of Barangay Basak, Guilhungan City also in Negros Oriental.

Desol was arrested in Purok 1 in Barangay Palogo in Valencia, Negros Oriental around 7:30 p.m. Monday and confiscated with four heat sealed suspected shabu including the buy bust item in exchange of P500 marked money.

Two drug suspects were arrested in separate buy bust operations in La Carlota and Silay cities Monday.

In Silay City, Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO) Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) led by Chief Inspector Mark Anthony Darroca arrested Regie Divinagracia Orquia, 25, single, of Purok Patuloy, Barangay Mambulac, Silay City

Orquia is the No. 4 drug personality in the city’s drug watch list.

A woman wanted for illegal drugs was arrested by police operatives in Ylac Street in Barangay Villamonte, Bacolod City Monday.

Police operatives arrested Beatriz Ann Marie Suarez, “Alias Bea”, 29, of Phase 2, Lizares Subdivision, Barangay Taculing, Bacolod City.

Judge Manuel Cardinal, Jr. issued the arrest order dated March 30, 2017. The suspect was charged with violation of Section 11 of Article 2 of RA 9165.

The Court recommends P200, 000 bail bond for her temporary liberty.

She is now detained.*
